Astra VXR

Why wouldn't a FWD car do a sub 5 second time to 60? Its all done in a straight line so the fact the front wheels have to turn and put down the power doesn't matter, also you've got a good bit of weight over the front wheels (engine).

Surely when doing a 0-60 time the font wheels being able to the put the power down is very important?

I am very dubious about the time. Mid 5 seconds probably but I very much doubt sub 5 seconds.

Also just by going by the picture above it looks terrible.

Why couldn't Vauxhall take a leaf out of Renaults book and make a stripped out version of the current car which tweaked suspension/chassis/LSD/close ratio gearing but with the standard power output. This in my opinion is what the Nurburgring edition should have been, not the standard car with a few stickers.

Was going to say. What's up with it?

120MPH = Bent Valves, presumably the engine was already weak, well I know it was as it used a lot of oil so the valve seals were obviously knackered also.

Engine light came on at speed, constantly misfiring on cylinder 5, took it back to dealer they said they'd sort it..head is now off and it's getting fixed.

That was on Monday they say I should have it tommorow so fingers crossed.

Shock as engine explodes on cheap bmw :p

Meh, getting fixed ain't it - thanks warranty. The only thing I care about is the inconvenience work wise couldn't give a toss about the car they either fix it or I'll have my cash back.

at least it's under warranty, that's why i insisted on 2 years warranty with my A3, it's at 55k now so that time of its life when things may start to go wrong, though, it's running really sweet atm, love it to bits :D

Yes didn't say it wasn't i said it doesn't have to do both so one of the major FWD limiting factors removed from the equation straight away.

If the 2004 onwards Dodge SRT-4 can do 0-60 in 5.3 seconds with 230bhp and at a kerb weight of 1347kg, then i don't see why an Astra running 300bhp at 1393kg and wider tyres couldn't beat it to 60.

Really? Its only done 55k its not some chinese rubbish!

I was under the impression that initial car shakedown so sub 12k then much later in life are the key areas for things going wrong, a cars midlife is the place it should be the least trouble.
