Astra VXR

It's a Vauxhall Astra, 55k is when they start feeling tired and crud with loose trim, rattles and slackness.

I can finally say it!

Read the thread :p ;) hehe.

FYI the Astra feels like the above out of the factory anyways :p

These won't be brand new cars produced by Vauxhall. It's just Thorney trying to make a load of cash out of second hand cars bit like they did with the T9 a year or so ago.

Why couldn't Vauxhall take a leaf out of Renaults book and make a stripped out version of the current car which tweaked suspension/chassis/LSD/close ratio gearing but with the standard power output. This in my opinion is what the Nurburgring edition should have been, not the standard car with a few stickers.

Because punters are stupid.

You cant brag about suspension, an LSD or a CRB to your mates. Well, you could, but they wouldn't be impressed. 300bhp, on the other hand, is something you could talk about at the local cruise.

Its all marketing. Headline power figures sell cars, not fancy chassis.

I've just read the spec, and LSD, full suspension/geo changes decent wheels, brakes etc, and 300BHP, despite the price, this might be a very entertaining car!
CHASSIS.

  • TMS Race Suspension, with Uprated Springs and Dampers, 40mm Lower.
  • TMS Uprated Fast Road Geometry Setup
  • TMS Competition Limited Slip Differential

ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN.

  • TMS Race Exhaust by Milltek Sport with unique black tipped exhaust tailpipe.
  • TMS Performance Front Mounted Intercooler
  • TMS Stage 3 Engine Remap

BRAKES.

  • 4 Piston Racing Brake Kit
  • Uprated Brake Pads Front & Rear

WHEELS & TYRES.

  • TMS 18” Lightweight Alloy Wheels by Team Dynamics with Unique Green Lip
  • Dunlop SportMaxx Ultra Performance Tyres

Odd how people are wetting their knickers over the RS Focus in another thread, but what could be a reasonably well set up 300BHP Astra with major changes to the suspension, brakes and an LSD seems to attract stupid comments like "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz", If that makes them go to sleep, they can't really be interested in performance cars..

O crap coming up on 70k miles! Must check dash! O no wait still there, no rattles (expect blown speaker) and still revs up quite happily ;)

I must admit, I expected the ST to be knackered by now, ive hit 72k, and tbh it gets driven properly! but no, even the seats bolster have next no wear, and pretty much no standard rattles, the only knackered bits are where ive removed the trim and broken clips, and suprisingly the suspension is still pretty taught.Imseriously impressed, the boggo marques have come a long long way tbh.
