ASUS 42" ROG Swift PG42UQ

I was hoping more from the PG42UQ to move from my LG C2 (and I'm lucky enough to have a WBE panel on mine) and finally retrieve a real monitor (no need to switch it on and off, DP connection, heatsink to prevent too much ABL etc ..). But it seems that ... no, I may keep my C2

Which part is putting you off the switch?

Which part is putting you off the switch?
1- Coating .. (very personal ofc, my desk is placed somewhere I don't have much light behind and like with my iPhone screen, iPad one, TV ... I started to love too much glossy panels)
2- Still perfectible firmware (It will improve but I'll wait for TFTCentral review updates on ABL management)
3- Sad they did not fix the BFI "issue" of the C2 (but is that even technically possible ?)

All in all, I really don't see a reason to spend more money to change my current WBE C2 ; in addition I've seen in LTT lastest video that there is a "hack" (with service switch equivalent software) to enable an auto power off / power on with mouse move feature on the C2

And no one has managed to fix OLED VRR flicker in monitors and TVs

I'm getting flicker even on my Gsync ultimate QD-OLED

It must be possible, because my iPhone 13 is a OLED that changes its refresh between 10hz and 120hz and yet I've never seen any flicker, even in games that let you do unlocked framerate

How is it Apple has fixed a problem that LG and Samsung can't

Ive had access to the review since it was published on the 13th, but todays updates have left me still wondering if its a must buy or to look elsewhere

What else is there though apart from the the C2 ?, i think the uniform brightness mode now it's been fixed with the latest firmware makes it well worth the extra cash but that is just my opinion.

Theres also the soon to be released Panasonic 42" LZ980 TV, although that might get closer to Xmas, and im sure there will be other OLED monitors on the horizon. The PG42UQ is still very much under consideration, I just need a little more convincing. And a release date!

Yeah but even the Panasonic will run into the same issues as the LG C2 when being used as a desktop monitor so the Asus would still be the better option in this case.
