Hi all.

Has anyone had any issues with installing AI Suite 3? I've just downloaded the latest version for my motherboard (Asus hero). When I click on the "AsusSetup.exe", nothing happens. However, a process "AsusSetup.exe" is being spawned in the task manager. Been waiting for about 5 minutes now. Still nothing.

Pretty much true. The only things worth using are FanXpert2 and the bios update utility in my experience.
Also, do NOT pay attention to the temp readings.

Have you installed all the other drivers, including SMBus and the Intel management thingy?

You could report it to Asus support, but they weren't interested when I told them one of their installers was broken because it was set to run in the wrong OS context mode.

My device manager isn't reporting any issues. I have been running AsusSetup as an administrator.

Out of interest, have you tried installing from the CD that came with it, and then update from the website?

Usually less hassle just downloading it, as it pretty much does that anyway.

I've removed it, three different motherboards I've tried it with it's never worked well. Although it's handy for updating the bios. Latest board it constantly gives me incorrect temp readings for, although AIDA64 shows the correct ones then powers the PC off for protection..

Just bloatware, bios updater I'd keep but the rest I'd ditch.

You would think so, but I found an update that wouldn't install on it's own, but when overwriting the files built into the full AI Suite 3 intall, I could install it.

When contacting Asus about it, and even telling them what the problem was, they were pretty disinterested, asking me questions I'd already answered, and acting like they didn't have access to their own website and a Windows 7 machine to test.

They finally suggesting things I'd already tried (and told them) and wiping the disk and reinstalling Windows. At that point I'd figured out the above fix myself, and told them what it was for the sake of other customers.

It gave me the impression that Asus support were nothing but script monkeys following what the help desk software told them, with no idea or ability to debug a fairly simple problem even when pointed directly at the issue.

The ASUS suit is pretty much crap. Like said by other users it doesn't give you true readings and often times out on other things. Like Other users have specified AIDA64 and CoreTemp should be your two main visual aids. CPU-Z is also another free util that serves its purpose.
I guess if you are going to throw away CD's you would have a big problem when RMAing the item if it were faulty.
All you should install is the Bios Update uttility.

AI Suite 3 isn't that bad unless you want to hardcore overclock. If you want to keep a general idea of what is going on, and do the basic automatic overclock to give you a starting point, it works pretty well. There's also lots of control over stuff like the wifi, network control, USB3 boost etc.

The temps are a bit rubbish because they don't show per core (use RealTemp instead), but other stuff like the fan control is excellent.

A lot of people rubbish AI Suite based on the first two versions, but version 3 is much, much better. I think a lot of people haven't even looked at it and assumed it as crap as the previous versions.

Uninstall any remaining Asus programs, then start windows in safe mode and run this:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?34503-AI-Suite-III-Cleaner

Restart into normal windows mode and download this newer version of AI suite listed here, decompress it but don't install it yet:
http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthrea...-access-violation-quot-error-on-restart/page2

In the drvresource folder right-click on HMservice/aaHMIns.exe and AXSP/axinst.exe and change the compatibility for all users to run as administrator.

Run the main Ai suite installer (asussetup) as administrator. Nothing seems to be happening again but just check your task manager for a process called axinst.exe. End that process and the installer should magically start working.

the EZupdate still doesnt work for me though. I re-installed windows but I still had to do the axinst.exe trick to get it to work...well dodgy

Note: I may have run the axinst.exe as admin before I ran the asussetup, I can't quite remember. Uninstall the asus suite and then run the cleaner in safe mode again if you want to try again.
