Asus G751JY ROG Gaming laptop IPS display

They have had a backlog over the holiday period, I had the same issue.

I called them today and they explained and helped arrange a suitable delivery date and refunded the shipping cost to boot!

That's the answer I got too, but they should not be offering various next day delivery options when they know they have zero chance of being able to fulfil them. They've said that mine "might even be next week" which is about as vague as it gets. How about employing some more staff or letting customers know in advance that there is a huge order backlog? Is it really that difficult?

I'm receiving mine at half 1 today at home, will have to wait to get home from work to give it a spin though, today is going to drag!

I've ordered a few things recently that haven't been next day, but they've all been around the Christmas period, while its sometimes a huge inconvenience, OCuk seem to be offering a pretty good customer service and have refunded me delivery every time I've not received my items the following day.

It would probably be a good idea to have some sort of note that states that they're operating on a back log, however I've dealt with much worse customer service before which haven't even offered my delivery cost to be refunded.

Overall i'm very happy with my most recent purchase and every purchase I've made through OCuk even if the item I've ordered isn't next day.

- Currently using a Nvidia 750m Macbook Pro and moving to this beast of a machine is going to be amazing!

Anyone know how you get the backlight to stay on? It was on initially when I booted it but now it's off and I can't see the damn letters.

It should come back on when you touch the trackpad or keyboard or move a mouse if you have one plugged in ?

Has it been turned off by mistake ? try turning it up on the function keys.

It comes on when I restart it but as soon as I type in my password it goes out. I am using a USB mouse. How do I get it to stay on permanently. Why couldn't they have just made the letters white like everyone else. Classic example of trying to "fix" things that were never broken.

Also it won't recognise when I plug in the ethernet cable from my router. I have managed to connect wirelessly but it is very slow. I want to connect over ethernet though. Why isn't it doing anything when I plug in the cable?

No idea with the lights not had that issue on any of mine. The Red keyboard is not the greatest for seeing with the lights off.

I have posted some settings back in this thread that will allow full speed on the wireless. When I plug in my Ethernet cable I get two connections and it works fine. Might be worth re-installing the Ethernet drivers.

How do I update bios and other stuff please? I am new to Windows 8. I have installed and am using the windowsclassicshell program to make it look like Windows 7. Thanks.

I have not had any keyboard lighting or Ethernet issues in the three I had. The settings I posted will speed up the wireless.

When I get back later I will have a look at mine and see if I can see anything that might cause an issue. I doubt it's the machine and more than likely a driver issue. It might be worth doing a complete refresh and starting again.

My post for wireless settings.

Finally after hours I have fixed the wireless issue. (Again) :-)..

No need to update drivers it's just two settings to enable full speed and stop connection issues.

Under control panel go to device manager and find the 7260 tab. Right click and select properties and then the advanced tab.

Change the following two settings below and leave everything else at stock.

HT Mode - HT Mode
u-APSD support - Disabled

The wireless will disconnect and then re-connect and now you will have the full speed and no network errors....

Have you checked in device manager to see if the ethernet adapter is enabled?

Regarding the keyboard lights, have you checked that it's not turned off via the hotkeys?

Moogley I did that already for the wireless. The wireless seems to be working fine anyway but I did the changes you did too.

What am I looking for in the device manager? Is it the Realtek PCIe family controller? There are many settings within that screen, some are enabled some disabled.

Which hotkey alters the backlight? I looked in the manual and there is no mention of it.

If you right click on the network symbol on the bottom right of the task bar and open "Network and sharing centre".

On the right is a part that says connections. Is the Ethernet connection showing there ?

With mine I get two connections when I connect the Ethernet one for Ethernet and one for wireless. If it is showing you can click on it and make sure it is enabled.

CP > Network & Internet > Network Connections

Shows bluetooth unplugged, Ethernet unplugged, Wifi connected.

The ethernet cable is plugged in to the right side socket and the cable definitely works as it fires up straight away when I plug it into my desktop.

Have you tried disabling and then re-enabling the ethernet ? Try disabling the WiFi and see if the ethernet works ?

Just plugged mine in and it comes up with two connected connections. If I then disable WiFi it works fine on ethernet alone.

It might also be worth uninstalling and then re-installing the drivers.
