ASUS MARS BAR

dear god,, 4k to play some games!

I'd spend £500 on a machine, spend the rest on a big screen and speakers, I bet te overall experience will be better if you do this...

That is so true! It's best to buy a more expensive screen than this monster. You'll be looking at the screen for years - had a DELL 2405 since launch, just upgraded to a HP LP2475w last Wednesday - 2 x 4890 Vapor-X, Bingo! better than this metal brick. :p

There's one way to settle this argument:

gtx295 c.£350
Mars £1030

That's 23% performance increase, pretty good right? All that memory for 23% increase? But wait!
23% performance increase for 294% of the price??

The mind boggles

The people who have been insulting to the OP are wrong to be rude. But the people saying he can justify the price, can anyone really justify this? You could always buy 2 gtx 285, watercool them, and overclock the nuts off of them for as good performance.

All this talk of flouting wealth just makes me laugh it really does because the only way someone can offend you flouting wealth is if your an envious person to start with. Believe it of not there are people who will look at a magazine that has reviewed the mars cards and if they were honest they don't know sod all about pc's or componenets.

This guy could have read these cards are the very best out there right now and though "ah well two of them will do me then". Why do so many people on this forum assume everyone that posts here knows what they are doing.

But if your one of the people that feels these types of thread are "flouting wealth" easy thing don't bother with them and move on there is no need to be rude or insulting.

yeah that's what I don't like.

to put it bluntly for everyone else:

N00BS STILL EXIST

we were all there once, and if we were insulted for being misinformed then these forums would not have the great reputation that they do. instead, as a lot of people have done, we must helpfully guide the op to see the light.

we've scared him off, he hasn't posted in a while, so he might have lost interest.

so asus say :P
@OP get them if you want its your money, however there are better things out there, and cheaper as pointed.

I would just get the normal GTX295 imo you can still overclock them after all, thats my two cents

nothing wrong with the card itself, its just the price as stated above

People still pay half a million for supercars that are 10 mph faster than a car for 50k.Sometimes people just want the best and are prepared to pay for it whats wrong with that.Sure the mars is expensive if you are 17 on min wage its not a smart purchase. What if the OP earns 10k aday its not so crazy then. The best will always demand a price premium and its down to the customers to decide if the asking price is worth it to them.

But even then the car is faster.

We are talking about this card not being the fastest in a few months time.

Its the fastest today though isnt it.And if a card comes out tomorrow thats faster the OP might have the money to buy 2 of those and toss the Mars in the bin.2k to some guys is pocket change and if it is to the OP then good on him.

If the OP is able to afford it comfortably and has no problem buying it as a pure luxury good then meh.

Personally I would buy one GTX 295 and give the rest to charity LOL.

Personally i bought a 4870 x2 because the performance is close to the 295 and it cost £100 less.Does that make my purchase smart and the OPs crazy.Well i used my credit card to buy my card if the Op buys 2 Mars cards with pocket change you see the purchase from another angle.

in this industry nothing ever is for long, so throwing ££££ at it is not really worth it when say a 1k computer is more than capable

I don't think buying 2x asus mars is flouting wealth - its only £2000 lol an ok job and being careful with your money and thats nothing... at best its flouting stupidity... now if it was 20,000 that would be a different situation coz its not so accessable to just anyone.
Someone that careful with there money don't throw £2000 at two stupidly well overpriced GPU cards :p

Heh I'm not too good at explaining stuff but... and even then its a fine line...

I'd see it as flouting wealth if the op bought 5 of them just coz they could and then only use 2 while bragging about having the other 3 as well...

I'm pretty sure theres plenty of people on here who don't have a massively high paying job but _could_ put down 2 grand on these GPUs without really missing the money.

Still don't think I'm explaining myself very well lol.

It's relative to the object itself. Telling people about your new car that cost £15-20,000 isn't flouting wealth as it's a common price bracket for cars.

In this case, in defence of the op, there a speed limits in this country, which actually render the fastest cars useless, if you are buying them purely for speed. So whilst buying an £80,000 car for it's faster speed over a £10,000 model might not be flouting wealth, it is useless.

i go away on holiday for a week and look what happens - im tempted to close this thread but it really is quite funny
