Hey there, after a few weeks of no PC I received my 2600k and the p67 Pro today, along with 4gb of XMS3 200mhz.

I got it set up properly, went to boot up, yet my monitor just stays there flashing on/off, the dram LED is red, now I've tested each of the 2 sticks of XMS3 in one slot using the MemOk! feature on the motherboard, and this does not work.

I have also tested 3 sticks of Gskill 1600mhz (one by one) in the different slots and these also give a red LED, tried to MemOk feature with these 2 and also nothing.

The only thing I did not replace was my x2 XFX 4980's and my HDD, could it be one of these causing it? I have tested the monitor downstairs on my mum's really old PC and it works fine, so the problem is definitely confined to mine.

Theres a couple of threads on cold boot problems already mate.

When i first boot mine it fails the same as yours so i shut it down then start it up again, it starts, shuts down then starts!

Hoping its just down to the bios as i have updated it to the latest general release but this has not helped yet.

The main problem for me is, I can't even post, no chance of updating the BIOS, I have tested to PSU's, same problem, the luck of me blowing x2 GPU's at the same time is low and the GPU led is NOT coming on so.

Everything points to a ram problem, I am out of ideas so I posted here.

Have you tried just shutting it down when its just sat there, then powering it back on?

Mine will not do a thing unless i do that, it just sits there with all the fans spinning.

Your using the correct slots right?

My P755D-E LX had a amendmum to the manual and I had to use the slots farthest from the CPU socket two light blue not the 2 black, yours are probably different colour.the ones closest casued the exact same symptom you describe.

Yep I tried that after I saw your first reply, changes nothing for me, DRAM led is still red, monitor sits there doing nothing, yet there is no check signal cable error meaning the monitor knows it's plugged into the PC.

Edit for the poster above, yes I've tried many different slot combo's and I've even tried some of my DDR3 triple channel in every single slot, 5 pieces of RAM, all of them giving the red led.

has anyone looked at the asus forums or e-mailed them for advice.

Not yet, was waiting for a newer bios

Sorry then mate, not sure what else to suggest. Sure someone else will be along to help soon.

had similar issues yesterday, apart from the DRAM LED wasnt lit on mine, so may well be sommat else, but......

-mine only worked when I put my RAM in slots A1+B1, even though the manual says A2+B2
that solved the posting issue for me

-after that it still wouldnt boot because of "cpu fan error", moved one of my apaches from my fan controller to the CPU fan header on the mobo, and its now fine.

hopefully that will help, otherwise maybe try with just one graphics card installed?
also when I first posted mine I did it without any HDDs installed, because I thought it might screw my RAID, but didn't have any problems there in the end

Well not sure if this will help but when I first booted mine it did exactly the same thing, it wasn't the pc it was the monitor looking for analogue signal instead of digital, I cyled the setting on the monitor and it worked just fine after that...lmao.

So I've been messing around testing different things for a few hours and still no luck. The monitor works fine downstairs on another computer. I have ordered a very cheap GFX to see if both of my 4890's have blown at once (Which I doubt), I tested a new power supply that has never been used and that also made no difference.

The DRAM led is still red no matter what config of ram I use, no matter what slots I put them in and no matter how many MemOk tests I run, which is confusing me, can the RAM stop any signal getting to the monitor? The PC is powered on fine, all fans running ect, although the LED's on my keyboard and mouse and not lit up.

So my Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Dual-Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A2000C9) is NOT on the QVL, but my G.SKILL F3-12800CL9T-6GBN, 6GB(3 x 2GB) is, and this also does not work.

Could I have a defective motherboard? Extreme precautions were taken when handling it, I was grounded and it was done on a rubberish floor in my bathroom, no carpet of any kind, so I am 99% sure its not an ESD problem.

There is a little button by the ram. Is there an LED by the ram thats on. If so push the Button until the LED goes out or turns green. That should detect your RAM.

Failing that take the ram out and put 1 stick back in in the slot nearest the CPU socket.

Another user just found that thiers booted if they did not use the CPU fan header, maybe the fan is too slow cos it expects a minimum of 600rpm

Hi, I already tried the first method, I have tested 5 sticks of RAM in each of the 4 slots using the MemOk! switch, it just stays on red after the test is complete.

Just tried putting the 3 pin H70 adapter into a different slot and still no luck.

Firstly the 3 pin H70 connector powers the Pump. That should not go on the CPU or Chassis headers (the two with 4 pins) because by default those are managed speed by the bios. Use the fan header by the ram this will ensure full power all the time.

If the red light is still on after the memOk test then the ram is bad or not getting detected properly. What ram are you trying?

Try this move ram to slots A1 and B1

Yes the fans spin.

I have the 3 pin plugged into the 3 pin PWR_FAN slow just above the DRAM_LED.

I have the the two 3 pins going into the one 3 pin adaptor which the instructions said to plug into the CPU header.

Ram-wise - I have tried Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz Dual-Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A2000C9) - I've tried each stick individually in each RAM Slot and run a MemOk switch, it always goes back to red.

I have also done the same with - G.SKILL F3-12800CL9T-6GBN 3x2GB - I have tested them in Dual Channel and each of them individually using the MenOk switch with the same results as the corsair.

Another post with a similar issue although not the red Ram light found that the GPU in the 2nd Pci-e slot got the board to boot. It maybe that the default settings, which increase the BCLK slightly do not agree with your gpu. If you can get into the bios and set BLCK manually to 100 you may be ok.
