the floppy cable is connected

it doesnt show up in the device manager and when i shut my pc down the pc hangs asif it has shut down but all my hardware is still running (monitor does go off) but thats the only thing that does

any help would be great

No, I've now tried it on 2 pc's and get the same on both

Gonna format tonight and see what happens

Hey guys,

Actually, he bought the card from me on the Members Market - I've been using the sound card in my rig for over a year without any problems so it's definitely not a faulty card.

If you have any more suggestions on what it could be - I would appreciate it as I want him to be happy with his purchase :p

I dont get any clicking noise from it at all

no it doesnt appear in device manager :(

tried it in 2 pc's now and even formated one, starting to get on my nerves now as it should be working if its failing to let the pc shutdown but its letting the pc turn on there is somthing there....

Push the power connector all the way on, if it's not seated properly it can cause all sorts of issues. The plastic 'stop' for it is also loose and can migrate up the pins so that may well need pushing back into position before you'll get a good connection.

A few things to check;

-Disable onboard sound via BIOS
-Use a software such as DriverSweeper to delete any previous Asus/Creative drivers (I know you mentioned that you did not have any Asus cards before, but worth a shot)
-Test the floppy connector, seeing that you tried it in different PC's then I'm assuming it's not a PSU problem, but the power connector might have got damaged on removal, does happen.
-In device manager (with card plugged in), after pressing Action->Scan for hardware changes, do you not see any items with yellow bangs beside it? I would have thought there would atleast be something even without the floppy connector plugged in.

onboard sound is disabled
i did try driver cleaner but ive since formated now to make sure it wasnt an os problem
I tried an old floppy / usb card reader thing and that seems to work fine on the floppy power
im going to restart now and put it in to check for any yellow!'s

cheers

If it's not in device manager its not installed correctly, may i chance that it be a driver issue.

Go get the latest correct drivers and if they don't work get a different set.

I have this card and it can be a little tricky with drivers, but it is well worth it.

All i can assume is your os win 7 64bit -----> http://support.asus.com/download.as... D2X&p=21&s=3&os=30&hashedid=ZBWhAEnH6nDOB00E

mine doesnt click when you turn it on.
however, i did have a similar problem with mine on my asus P67 pro board.

hate to say it Cupra, but have you tried putting it into another slot on the board?

Sorry, I mean't the floppy power connector on the sound card itself, not PSU.

Although I've had a few Asus cards myself and they've always seemed durable, so doubt it's that.

Make sure nothing else is plugged into the same cable that is connected to the xonar. Had this problem with mine as my pump ran off the same power cable, and meant it wouldn't work.

If it isn't appearing in device manager, even a yellow !, then Windows is not detecting the card. If Windows is not detecting it, then it's not a driver issue. If no yellow ! is present in either PC's device manager, then I'd suspect the worst. It's highly unlikely the card would have died or developed a fault between changing hands, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility. Anyway, there is no point in speculation, until Cupra can conform the presence of a yellow !, when the card is inserted.

Cupra, do the two different PC's, you have tried the card in, have different motherboard make/model, or are they both the same?
