I hate going to Bolton, the whole town centre is full of Asylum/Immigrants, considering Wigan is a couple of miles away, you would think they where 100s of miles apart.

I don't know why, but the high number of immigrants in the North East really surprised me.

you are talking tiny % of the population really

around 2% in south tyneside of any race put together...we originally had a very small arabic population..mainly merchant navy who settled here..Bangladeshis settled and have a very healthy trade in currys...South Shields has loads of good curry houses..at very good prices :D!

Edit: I dont really see how thats racist. Its not down here
They refer to them selfs with the W word and so does every one else.

And its true if they didnt imigrate you wouldnt have there food

We don't have their food, we have a bastardised version of it, the same goes for any developed country.

With out them you still wouldnt have anything near the different types of foods you get today.

Freefaller, my ancestry isnt of this country either...

I've got no problems with law-abiding legal migrants, provided they make some sort of effort to integrate.

What I will say is I'm tired of being a translator, a little basic English would go a long way (yes, a significant proportion of the people I deal with day-to-day speak little or no English).

Has anything happened to make you hate it or do you just not like the fact that there is a high ethnic population ?

Wow - you can distinguish between people of varying immigration status just by looking at them?

Impressive.

I dont think there is anything wrong with not wanting to live in an area with a high ethnic population - as I'm sure that most people would attest the current immigration system means that such areas are rife with problems such as cultural clashes and economic depravity...

The vast majority of native British have no problem with immigrants.

What does upset many though is disproportionate numbers and disproportionate concentrations of numbers in one area.

Getting (or feeling) out numbered on your own turf is not nice.

Did he say he only looked at them? Did he even mention what method he used to identify them? Since he didn't, how can you be sure he is innacurrate?

Bit of both really, its kind of strange to drive 10 miles down the road and see a town like Wigan full of tacky shops and market stalls.

I'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying if we had never welcomed foreign immigrants in to our country we'd all be eating mince and tatties or fish suppers?

There aren't many Mexican immigrants here but you can buy 'mexican food' in most towns.

But wouldnt that mean that you dislike it because of cultural clashes and economic depravity, rather than because of a high ethnic population?

I am curious cbs. Is it based on bad experience or being uncomfortable.

TO paraphrase...

the idea that uncontrolled immigration and asylum are the only way to enable consumption of foreign foods, and positive influence of foreign things IS A FALLACY

Nor is it hypocritical to enjoy takeaways and wish for immigration/asylum reform

Because I can, right?

Mexicans went to the USA the Americans liked some of the things they brought with them so the major corporations took that food and showed the rest of the world and sold it.
That way people also learn to make certain foods for themselves as well :)
