Well finally i have decent internet, BT have just been and finished the fibre optic install.

It costs £25 a month, i have opted for the unlimited downloads (limited 40gb is £20) but it does have a fair usage policy of about 300gb (i think)

Its about time i had a decent internet service, its been very very poor for too long.
God im easily pleased lol.

Nice speeds, lets see if BT balls it up at peak times though with poorly configured traffic management hardware. Looks like Virgin are going that way too :/

I have been on BT Infinity since Christmas, and I download at all times of the day. Nothing to suggest traffic management - at least nothing intrusive.

Though to be fair I am happy to suffer some drops in speed from my usual 30-35MB. Damn sight better than Sky's 3MB! :)

Been on since October, can't fault it apart from torrent upload speeds capped at 1Mbit 24/7, but that's not a big deal. You'll love it Iceman.

Just to add that I have not had slow downs anywhere, and I use my internet for pretty much everything except for bittorrent. Usenet flies.

Have had it since October.

Just worth mentioning the 300GB FUP includes upload so don't go crazy as it soon adds up (as I found out when receiving the warning email at 240GB some 15-20 days into the first month:D)

Other than that great service traffic shaping is of no bother to me, you'll continue to love it every day

Any download restrictions annoy the crap out of me...

Hence my Virgin connection!

All well and good if you have cable in your area! Since Virgin are broke and wont put cable down, even when I can see a house that has cable from my garden, not a lot one can do! :)

They've just installed a new cab about 300 yards from my house so I hope I'm going to be connected to that. I was talking to the guy working on it yesterday and it's not operational yet so he told me to make sure I register my interest which I'd already done.

We're never going to get cable here so this will be the fastest I'll be able to get (for now anyway). I just hope I can get it so I can bin my crappy slow 2 meg connection.

I sooo wish we could upto 8Mb, even 4mb would be better than what we get now!

At best we can get 1.5mb and that's rarely.

My local exchange is MRCOM. It's hurrendous.

Did BT have to come to your home to install/enable the Infinity option?

Thanks

Neil

Yeah all they did was fit a new socket and plugged the modem and home hub in. The guy was done in an hour. Good service and more than impressed with the internet speeds so far no slow downs at all.
