At last!!

But it's not a set allowance. It's merely the figure BT are using as part of their "Unlimited" FUP at the moment.

There's nothing to say they won't lower that amount. Maybe significantly. That's especially likely with the FTTC/VDSL2 rollout gaining pace again.

Of course you could argue that it is breach of contract. Didn't say you'd win, but I reckon you'd have a good shout. I know it's "unlimited", but as said above the fup is available and often quoted, and such a large reduction would impact your service enough for you to argue against it. I feel the adverse publicity would be enough to stop BT (or anyone else) from implementing such a drastic lowering of their fup. Argue all you wish, but 300gb is a huge figure to be downloading for £25 a month, and if you need more then perhaps you need to look at alternatives. I'm all for a debate, but the arguments that have been presented so far haven't really swung it for me against BT when plenty of people have limited ISP choices.

Personnally there's no way I'm taking an 18 month contract out with anyone never mind BT. 18 months is a pretty long time especially when your not exectly financially secure at the moment.

Just for talks sake... When are we likely to see 1 month rolling contracts with this? I know IdNet and ADSL24 are using it but I think its still 12 month contracts.

1.5Mb here with LLU:o Once upon a time it was closed to 4Mb but I suppose O2 are well over subscribed these days but at £7.50 a month I can't complain and O2's customer service have never been anything but excellent with me.

I think you will always be able to get a 1 month rolling contract with someone, just of course their will be caveats. They will be able to terminate your contract easier too if they feel you have abused the service because of the short terms. Many people just don't have the flexibility that some take for granted. I live in Wales, and the broadband situation can be a joke in certain areas, and a good 90% of people we know only really have limited choices and rubbish service just because the population density is low meaning that the investment isn't there...and also this is reflected in the 18/24 month contracts that end up being better. If you're pretty sure you'll be in the same place for a while then it usually works out much better

So therefor its fibre optic like i first said hence the FTTC.... Do some people on here just want to argue for the sake of it?

Nice edit.. Bit too late tho..

BUT ITS NOT VDSL2 is it??? Pedantic or just an idiot...

Yes it is VDSL2 which you obviously realised by editing your post.

Now who's the idiot? lol..

PS - So by your reckoning all DSL connections are fibre? After all they use fibre to the exchange..

Nope im not the idiot its not VDSL2 its fibre optic. Maybe they all use fibre to the exchange but THIS IS FIBRE TO THE CABINET,,, Which part are you too thick to read???

Where did i say all dsl are fibre optic??? If i said that then please quote it.
If you have nothing decent to input then why bother???
Oh thats it your another Ocuk idiot who likes to argue ha ha grow up little boy!!!!

FFS... Do you live inside the street cabinet? No..

Inside the FTTC cabinet is a DSLAM. From there to your property the connection is via VDSL2 over copper. That little white box with "Openreach" on it is a Huawei VDSL2 modem.

Granted part of the connection is fibre, hence the F in FTTC but the actual connection is VDSL2.

So they use FIBRE more than any other connection?? Mr i contradict myself. No i dont live in the cabinet but i suppose you do im sorry little boy?

I dont have an obsession with little boys i just know that your a little boy acting big on the internet. If you cant be bothered then go back to playing with your little toys.
Now then everyone else can carry on with the sensible thread...

Until FTTH becomes normal, there is no problem calling it 'fibre' imo, whether it is VM or BT etc.
