**At long last - Asus ROG Spatha Wireless/Wired Gaming Mouse available to pre-order!**

£140 for a mouse! PMSL :D

Not sure OCUK serious or trolling. :p

Half the price, if not more, of a decent graphics card. Does anyone know how ASUS (and other gaming peripheral sellers for that matter) come up with the price? Or has Razer set some kind of standard and they're just working with that?

Look at the market.

Keyboard - £30-£80
Mechanical Keyboard - £60-£120
RGB Mechanical - £110-£180

Mouse £20-£50
RGB mouse £50-£70
Wireless mouse £80+

That's just the way the market is. They will place it above other brands as they want to be seen as a premium product.

Trying to think how much different my G502 is from this that I got for £40.

Aside from being wired and wireless and ROG branded?

Looks nice and similar though.

What's so funny though is how often you see those who've forked out such obscene money for this kind of stuff justifying it so vehemently. The psychology behind it all is rather bizarre I am sure, but the reaction you often get when you so much as suggest to someone that they've overpaid is akin to slapping their mother in the face. We live in a mad mad world.

Great to see this finally being released. Crap to see it being way over priced compared to the competition.

If the mouse is £140 i dread to think the price of the 7.1 headset and the Claymore keyboard when they hit the market. At a gues for the set looking at £400-500 Asus are way off the game unfortunately

I have the Razer Mamba Chroma. Although it was a present I wouldn't justify the high price tag. I made the mistake of buying Razers Chroma Blackwidow, Mamba, Firefly and Orbweaver at once.

However since then I sold the orbweaver and I'm about to sell the blackwidow. The firefly can go to the misses.

As I don't smoke, drink or spend my money on other things, I class my PCs as my hobby to which I'm willing to invest into.

Although I like these ASUS ROG Peripherals and I do want them, I agree £140 is a very high price tag. Also I'm heavily put off by the weird textured patterns these ROG Toys have.

The way this is priced the ASUS ROG Keyboard will be very pricey with the weird texture.

The Logitech G602 is my mouse of choice, at £59.99 it's the best wireless mouse on the market. I actually prefer the shape/design to the mamba as well.

I really wanna try the G900 from Logitech, that is also priced at £140

I always used to think of Logitech as a budget brand. However I have not used their products in 10+ years.

When the time comes I will consider them although wireless isn't essential for me.

The last expensive mouse I bought was a Razer Mamba. It sucked on so many levels and made me realise there is no mouse out there worth £140. ASUS you can take the Spatha and jam it firmly up your Spathole.

Why do you think it sucked?

I have the Mamba 2012 which has been given to my misses after me having it for 4 years. I now have the Mamba Chroma which is pretty much the same just more shiny lights, cant fault that either.

Only issue I find is not directly the mouse is if you get a hair/dust over the laser it has a right fit and sticks to an axis. But this seems more prominent with the Firefly than an ordinary mouse mat.

But at £140 would I buy it again ? Not a chance.

However we won't talk about the Razer Software

Within 6 months of using it the battery burst inside the mouse. It swole up so much the plastic inside the battery compartment cracked trying to get it out. Warranty gone - they weren't willing to listen. About the same time the rubberised black coating started coming away from the shell. I had a Razer Blackwidow keyboard doing the same thing so the issue seems to effect all their products with the rubberised finished. They've maybe fixed it now and use an alternative coating but too little too late. £250 wasted on what is supposed to be premium quality.

The thing with Razer is you're not paying all that money for the quality of the mouse or keyboard, rather the quality of the packaging it comes in. The Mamba arrives in a crystal like display box, it looks damn fine but in reality it's just a £40 mouse dressed up like a cheap tart :(. Their software does suck badly too, I could only ever get it to work sometimes while gaming. The on the fly sensitivity was a no no for me. The Perixx Mouse I'm using now is so much better. It cost me £25 lol

It is fair to to say 'Razer - built by chancers for gamers'
