At what age did you know what you wanted to do for a living?

I am 52 this year and I still don;t know what I want to do for a living but guess I am running out of time now!

I knew at about 15 that it will have to involve computers in a serious way. So studied computer science and loved every bit of it. Now at 32 I don’t dislike it or anything like that, but I sometimes feel like I might want to do something else, something more adventurous. I’ll probably just keep on doing what I’ve been doing as I’m not a great risk taker.

I have always levitated towards technology from a young age that prompted the standard A ‘Levels / University etc.

After my university degree (Computer Security), I just followed the standard IT path. After 8.5 years I decided to leave behind the general area i solely focused on. I had an average wage but was on a salary that would never really let me achieve my goals (retire at 50, mortgage free at young(ish) age etc).

This was the best decision I have ever made. It took me a long time to realize. I went niche within the IT sector and involved making a massive life change in 2016. It was a bit of luck and judgement.

There is no better feeling than finding a job you love.
