At what age did you know what you wanted to do for a living?

25ish, although have no idea how to go about doing it.
Opening a restaurant which does good food and specialist spirits, beers and wine.
Much like the rummer hotel in Bristol.

More realistic goal is get to management and actually have some influence on a **** poor industry. I know there is many things out of your hands even at manager level, but there is other stuff within your control as well. Which current managers just cba to do.

I am 24 and have no idea, I am talented at IT and technology in general but never really felt "at home" in any of of the jobs which did that.

There are lots of things which take my fancy and I feel I would enjoy doing, most of which would require me tot rain from the ground up for many years though!

I would love to be a professional rally driver but it is never going to happen, so I have no realistic ideas of what I WANT to be doing!

I wanted to be in the forces when i was about 6, and after years of slacking i finally joined.
The rest of my life on the otherhand is still in tatters unlike yours, though im happier than I have been for years :)
very much like myself, i knew from an early age that the forces were for me, but it wasnt till i was 24 that i followed my heart and joined up. really wish i had joned up earlier but instead wasted years in college then driving buses, never happy in what i was doing.
but all is changed now, couldnt be happier with my job and couldnt relisticly see myself doing anything else now.
but my personal life leaves much to be desired, its not bad just not where i would like it to be, would love a nice stable relationship but that is not easy in the forces.

Thought I wanted a career in IT and so started one. Took up Photography as a hobby as I've always been interested in it...now I want to be a full time photographer.

I'm 21 :)

When I was younger I was adamant that I didn't want to work in IT.

I'm now 21 and work in IT. I also love it :)

Im 19 - 20 next week, and I never actually knew what I wanted to do at school.

After plenty of naff jobs, I decided to join the Navy and give that ago. Best move I have made yet - although I possibly wont be doing this for the full 20 years, but its a brilliant job.

16 and have a vague idea! Either sparky, IT techy, something to do with speakers (have no idea what you call that) or something to do with electronics or I would love to be a uni lecturer but don't have the drive to do it.

I still don't know. tbh no job I can think of really interests me. I have come to the conclusion it is about getting a job that is not too hard but not too easy, well paid and also has a bit of variety to it but even then I will get bored in a few years.

Maybe I just have a short attention span and am lazy but I can put effort into stuff I actually care about but even my hobbies go through these cycles. Where i will be addicted for a few months then not care until the next thing comes along.

I am just not a happy/content kind of person really.

So I am 24 and still don't know. I just do IT because I was interested/good at it when younger and have a good job.

Ideal job would be having sex with multiple hookers while on as many drugs.

Not sure, I'm 21 and still in uni, though I think there's certain parts of the course I'm doing that I don't want to pursue (know this from work experience), and other parts that interest me more, though it's a very wide field (chemistry).

When I was little I think I wanted to be a rally driver, not much chance of that now!

18 and have absolutely no idea. Doing a Masters in Maths over the next four years and hoping it'll push me into something well paid :p

29 - still not entirely sure what I want to do though have a few reasonable ideas (certainly a better idea now than when I was 18 or 21...)

Currently am bored with my job and trying to move internally within the same company (software firm).

Basically I now know I want something involving a bit of IT and a bit (more) Maths/Statistics... am also starting to develop an interest in machine learning.

I have also come to the conclusion that studying Maths at uni as opposed to computer science would have been a better option for me personally - am currently pursuing a maths&statistics degree part time and looking at doing an MSc in Statistics or similar in two years time - ideally an applied course which has a decent coverage of data mining, machine learning etc...
