At what point would you stop upgrading?

Ok say for example you have a top end GFX card that maxxes out all the games you play at the res you play.

At what point would you say enough is enough?

Would you keep buying to improve on e Peen scores?

Dont know, buy the hardware to game at my ideal res of 1920's with full AA+AF, and keep that till it struggles in future games (can handle a few bad code jobs at 1600's though).

well for example u can play every game with decent aa like for example 4 aa but on 22" screen but then new game coem aut and your card strugless to get 40 fps at 2 aa 16 aa game and u want 8 aa 16 af on it with atleast 60 fps so you upgrade ofcaurce u can play games with no aa and no af on high but they look crap ;)

the day that games look like a High Definition camera like your looking with your own eyes out doors but are really looking at a game and with hardware that can play it safely at a few hundred fps. then the job will be reight

I'm happy so long as I can play at max details at my res, minimum of 2x aa before i look for an upgrade.

That would be my point as well. As long as it's playable and I'm happy with the experience then I won't bother looking for any more - (reasonable frame rate at 1600x1200.

I had been tempted by a card newer than my 640MB 8800GTS for churning out Crysis in its full glory - but as it happens I didn't really like the game that much anyway.

Same here GreenLizard0. Istill use my 8800gts 640mb as it suits every game i play. Next graphics card I buy will be to go with a Nehalem (Or equivalent!!), its going to be a full system build.

Noobs the lot of you I'm still playing on 2500 XP-M, 1.5GB PC3200 RAM and 800XT here. Frankly I'm not going upgrade until it either stops working on me or it can't play games that I want to play.

My head hurts.

I have stopped upgrading, 8800GT runs everything I want to play right now at good settings. No doubt I will upgrade some time in the future but not this generation.

Me too and quite frankly sick of it now they are taking us for mugs things are moving on every 3 months it feels like.
Not upgrading until there's a must play multiplayer game like battlefield III or whatever that requires me to do so.

i will stop upgrading when a gpu or multi gpu solution will give me 2-4aa 16af all settings on max @ 2560x1600

untill then i'll buy a new card/cards whenever i can to get the best out of the games i play :)

this time round i'll be getting ATI again, 48*0 in CF for sure.

Lucky you. :)

What happens when you install a game thats P.S 3.0 or SSE2 or both ONLY (we are at SSE4.1 now), it simply will not run thats why I gave up on my old NF2 overclocked to the max Rig. (the SSE2 issue)

Still on my 3500+ and an X850XT. Only upgrades I have made recently is a second gig of RAM and a new CPU in the post. I'll probably upgrade the GFX card to something mid-range second hand and do a full blow out at the end of this year/beginning of next
