At what tread depth do YOU replace your tyres?

My Michelin PE2's are now ~3.4mm-3.6mm all round. They still feel great. I've got a full set of RE002's waiting to go on, but don't want to jump the gun / waste money doing them early.

Do you wait until you can feel them noticeably worse? or when they hit a certain low level?

I've rotated these once at 6500 miles, they became 6mm front and 4mm rear. Since that I've done 6200 miles to reach the figures mentioned above.

This is a good time to change I find, one more session and it will pop and damage the quarter panel :p

Not helpful? Seriously, 1.6mm but if it starts to go off before then, it will be replaced and added to the drift pile. Unfortunately my fronts never make it down that low before the cords are showing on the inside :(

If its winter probably about 2.5mm, as soon as it starts feeling hairy to drive in wet conditions.

In summer, borderline illegal!

Last last set of tyres, KU31, went down to 0.8mm fronts, 5mm rears in just 8000 miles. Kept a closer eye on the PE2's. At 15", it's cheap enough to just buy 4

Yup, I was working from home then, so only drove when I wanted to, ie in the sun. They'd gone down to 1mm before I noticed how low they were and ordered a new set

Thats a fairly shocking attitude to car maintenance, you'd have rightly had 6 points had you been pulled over. How can you not notice running that far below the legal limit? Even the limit itself is fairly low. They must have looked like slicks.
