Just watching a bit of this Swedish meet, it's a quite interesting dimension with the team points competition going on. Good performance by Tom Vernon in the 5,000m especially as with a couple of laps to go he was looking as if he might have set too fast a pace early on. Pity about Samson Oni in the high jump only getting 8th but he is coming back from a long injury.

Not sure about the Jeff Wayne playing in the background prior to most of the track events, I like the music but it just feels a bit strange here.

//edit good performance by the mens 4x100m relay team there, looked pretty convincing in winning. Not so good for the womens 4x100m team though, disqualified for the changeover although hopefully they'll be reinstated as it didn't look like a foul change - close to perhaps but it seemed ok overall and that would mean they got 4th.

Watching again today, mildly disappointed with Andy Baddeley's final placing in the 3000m but just watched a great result for Charlene Thomas in the womens 1500m.

There's been some very pretty girls in the long jump and high jump today although not a huge amount of British interest from the time I started watching.

Lausanne in an hour people. Coverage online on the BBC Athletics page - http://goo.gl/oImmU and on BBC Three channel from 7.

Phillips Idowu is in the triple jump, Dai Greene is in the 400m hurdles, another superb women's 100m hurdles line up, Tiffany Ofili-Porter is running against, Danielle Carruthers, Kellie Wells, Sally Pearson, Virginia Powell-Crawford and of course Lolo Jones. She did great in NY and finished 3rd, hopefully she can repeat it today.

Caster Semenya is in the womens 1500m as well as Britains Charlene Thomas. In the mens 5,000m the dubiously aged 17 year old Isaiah Koech is running.

Mens 100m should be a corker as well, Lemaitre is running a long with the Jamaican trio of Powell, Carter and Frater. The French man ran 9.95  in Sweden the other week, I think he'll go faster today as well.

Frater is running the fastest he's ever run this year, I think he's a real challenger to upset Powell off his focus on Bolt and Gay.

Powell in 9.78, he's certainly getting there. Lemaitre was well off the pace, but ran 9.95, he was soooo far behind though. :(

Just skimmed through the iPlayer stream and it's always surprising how easy the big jumps look, when the triple jumper gets it "just so".

I'm not sure how I feel about the men's 100m these days. It used to be an event I loved, but now it just seems so inconsequential without Mr. Bolt show boating. :( Lemaitre was left for dead at the start, yet came back well. Just needed another 50-100 metres....

I just wish I was better at keeping track (sorry ;)) of the athletics coverage.

That rule sucks. They should all get together and false start one after the other until there's no one left and they should do it at a big event to embarrass the IAAF.

A Jamican sprinter has tested positive for a banned substance and it's been reported that it's Steve Mullings who has been in the form of his life this season... I wonder why. Sprinting doesn't need this, neither does athletics or Jamaica!

Second time testing positive, lifetime ban. Good riddance.

Is that idiot woman who always says "hardlines" doing post event interviews still? She's nearly as bad as Otis! Can't stand Channel 4 broadcasting athletics.

I thought there was gona be atleast one mention of the name Gaylord Silly. You gota be fair athletics has had some strange names in the past.

Different countries different rules. He knew he would be banned from the Olympics for life if he was caught and he has been. Not only is he a cheat, he's a liar and an awful role model and ambassador for British athletics.

Hopefully the pressure being put on the BOA by his peers and some of our most respected Athletes will help the ban remain in place.
