I've not had any luck getting a replacement Athlon at all. Bust the pins on my original one, then used fastmemoryman on ebay and he sent me a sempron 3000 instead of an athlon 3000 and isn't replying to his emails. Bought this one now its bust.

^^ That guy is well dodgy, as I've recently found out. ordered an X2 4200+ won and paid for it on the 6th of july. hasn't arrived yet. currently going the "paypal resolution" route to try and get my cash back.

Best bet pick up a 939 board and cheapo cpu. tbh £50 would prolly cover it possibly even with an X2

I would only buy things off EBAY from a trusted supplier or if it is very cheap. There are lots of cheap imports of things from China claiming to be from UK sellers and what they sell is often not what is advertised. Also you then get no support. There are some bargains but assume what you are buying is junk and pay a low price.

1 of the dodgy guys has a 700+ rating with like 5 negatives, the other has an 11k+ one, with about 500 negatives.

Its just a crappy Asrock K8Upgrade-VM800.

How would I do this, is there an option in the BIOS?

well my asrock K8S8K or something like that was able to change fsb. so i think your board should too. Look in the advanced section of the bios should be close to the cpu multi you were playing with. Might be called Htt frequency.
