Athlon 3200XP pricing hits new heights

I think you will find getting the Athlon XP cpu's is quiet simple, but expensive.
However the BIG problem, is actually getting a Good motherboard to run it on. Well thats if you dont actually already got one spare.

I have a spare Barton 3000+ @ 333FSB, and cant get a 400FSB motherboard anywhere, but that well known action site, for an absolute fortune. So i can feed my overclocking addiction abit more with the old cpu. :D

I run a 3200Xp Barton with a X800pro@pe and get over 6000 points on 3D mark05.
Not exactly slow is it. :)

Now i am going off to post a spec me and price check thread to see if i can get a no cost upgrade. :D

yea it is when you want to play a game and your cpu gets raped, welcome to 30fps in heavy action in games like bf2, at 1024x768 low detail. with a fast cpu it will sit at 100fps near constant and probably never dip below 75fps.

What you on about? I could run BF2 at high with my XP 3200 and got a frame rate no lower than 30

Sorry, i should have expanded it abit further. I HAVE a ABIT AN7 at home, but was Dead on arrival. Got from a competing retailer too OC. And Both the retailer or ABIT, dont want too know about it.
The lucky sod's, unfortunitly i haven't got the time to follow it up cus of CourseWork. :( And i dont imagine they will do much about it now. So iam in the market for another board...
Sorry to hijack the thread with my moan. Sooo annoying, Iam sure you can imagine?

"Do they fetch a lot on ebay then ?" what u referring to? CPU or modo?

Sweet... I've got a 3200XP, NF7S2 and a 9800Pro sat under my desk doing nothing. Might have to sell them and rake in a small fortune:D

its playable, but a lot slower than it would be with an A64. i not long got rid of my xp and noticed the LARGE difference. its rare to see any less than 75-85fps in very heavy action.

What is your 3D Mark 05 score with that system. Mine is 6007. Like i said earlier hardly slow is it.
You state you get 30fps well you are wrong or you just had a poorly set up system previously.
Of course your new rig is faster but that was not the question was it.

With my rig at the moment (XP 3200 Barton, X800XT-PE, 1gb Ram) i managed to scrape 6400 3dmark points, i checked the orb and people with 64bit systems clocked at 2.2ghz were scoring the same :)

u know 3dmark2k5 is a gfx card test and not a cpu test? well it was about 5000 3dmarks, 6800nu and xp @2400mhz, changed the cpu and still got 5000, but i got cpu power so now i dont have big fps dips in bf2.
avg b4: 70-100fps, min b4: 30-40fps, avg now: 102fps, min now: ~80fps same gfx settings.

So basically your new system is over a 1000 points down on 05 and you slate the 3200xp and yes i know what 05 tests.
Like i said before i think your system is poorly set up. You can't even match my score let alone beat it.
If i suffered dips and spikes do you really think i would have played BF2 for over 800 hours. Come on. :p

whatever said:
that system would last you at least for 1 more year.

It was starting to struggle with games a year ago when I upgraded from it... Don't reckon it could run Oblivion very well now.

the 6800nu was probably less than 4fps(~1fps per 200 points) slower than whatever card your using for 3dmark, very small difference. and bf2 is very cpu intensive, you only have to monitor your gfx card temps (seeing that they dont go anywhere near the same temps as when ati tool or 3dmark runs on it).
so you suffer no fps dips at all? you get 102fps near constant like my current 7800gt or my old 6800nu did (with 146)? can you also record your game with FRAPs and stay at 100fps? :)
