Hey guys, I have unlocked my 6950 using the ATI 6970 Bios but I am only achieving a texture fill rate of

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I thought this is supposed to be 84.5 GTexel/s

Any ideas? :(

*edit* Also just noticed my pixel fillrate is 25.6 GPixel/s instead of 28.2 GPixel/s

God I love you guys :), If im getting graphical anomalies at this clock speed should I lower a bit or return the card?

Try running your core at 880Mhz rather than 800Mhz lol. I just ran mine at your clocks and I get the exact same as you.

Also running at 880Mhz core and 1375Mhz memory gave me your desired clocks. So up your overclock to 880Mhz instead of 800Mhz and you're sorted.

Edit: kylew beat me to it. :)

Oh dear just tried doing this and corrupted my bios 1, using bios 2 now, Going to try and restore bios 1 >.<

Hmm I modified my original bios using the info in the link you provided and tried to reflash BIOS 1 using the modified.bin in Winflash and it just says this version of the bios is already installed.

Any ideas? >.<

That is really unlucky timing for a BSOD to happen :(. I've not had to recover before but I've heard you can do it blind if you know the right timing and exactly what to press in DOS. Otherwise I've seen others so it with a second card plugged in to do it on his 5850 and all was fine again after the flash was able to run.

What is more gutting about this is that the flash is over quickly so for it to BSOD in that time just sucks tbh.

Best to stick with the 6950 BIOS unlocked btw. I had screen tears and anomalies happen on the 6970 BIOS as have many others. It was increasing on Pro Evolution 2011 in a ten minute game and I thought to myself "stuff this" and changed back to the 6950 BIOS and all has been perfect since then. So it was the memory timings as the core is fine at the same speeds as I had it on the 6970 BIOS. Just the memory problem but it's just as fast as the 6970 and actually can run 880-900Mhz on the core at 1.100v compared to 880Mhz stock at 1.175v for the 6970 so that's pretty cool. As soon as you add the voltage up to the stock 6970 of 1.175v you can clock up to roughly 940-975Mhz on the core.

I hope you can flash it back soon.

EDIT: Woot you're back :D, good job. How did you do it?.

I switched to BIOS 2 and switched back to 1 while PC was still on and reflashed my backed up original bios :)

Ok I have managed to use my modified BIOS after re flashing the 6970 bios and then flashing again to the modified 6950 Bios, now think I should increase the clock?

Good news then :). Remember that now you are back with the 6950 BIOS that your voltage has went from 1.175v to 1.100.

With 1.100 it's usually between 880-900Mhz on the core which has to be attained using MSI Afterburner. You have to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI Afterburner (this is using Win7 64bit) and open MSIAfterburner.cfg with wordpad (remember to uncheck the box so it doesn't use this to open with every time).

Change EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 0 to 1 and then save. Restart MSI Afterburner and now you can overclock past 840Mhz :).

For voltage play I'd rather not use MSI Afterburner as it changes Powerplay idle clocks to 475Mhz Core and 725Mhz Memory, that's from the default 250/150Mhz. (This was on Version 2 Beta 6 and now Beta 7 is out so things might have changed) So what I do is use RBE (Radeon BIOS Editor). Here is a post I done for someone explaining what to do.

If you get stuck then post back and I'll help you out.

EDIT: I just realised that this was information for a genuine 6970 user to go further than the stock 1.175v. So where I say to look for 1175, you need to look for 1100. Sorry about that.

OK thats awesome Im going to have a read up now, Il let you know how it goes any problems il be sure to post on here :). expect a repsonse soon i hope :P

Right well without adjusting any voltages my card wont overclock above 840/1325, As soon as i go one step above it starts artificating and wierd things happen. What would you do? I want it to be atleast like a 6970 >.<

Have you tried putting Power Control to 20%?.

Maybe it's not as good of a clocker and needs the extra voltages to hit 880Mhz and beyond. Is it HIS by any chance?. Your subvendor in GPUz comes up the same as mine. Reason I'm asking is that someone else got HIS cards and theirs clocked just like mine.

Also remember you are at stock 6950 voltage so putting the voltage at 1.175v will have you exactly as the 6970 is and should allow you to clock further.

What are your PC specs also please?.

I have a PowerColour 6950, my PC spec are:
I7 920 clocked to 4ghz
6gb DDR 3 at 9 9 9 24
Gigabyte EX58 UD5 Mobo, Hmm maybe i should just whack the voltage up to 1.175 like you said, Il try the extra power control first! Il let you know, if their is anything you think will help just let me know man! :)

Well I have increased power by 20% and taken the clocks to 880/1375 im just waiting for it to start artifacting now...Il let you know how it goes.

*There it goes starting artifacting like a good'n* BOOOOOOOOOOO!

Whats next? I guess increasing the volts to 1.175?.

ok well, I increased the voltage to 1.175 using the MSI After burner version you reccommended and upped the clocks to 880/1375 and within about 45 seconds I was artifacting :(

ok il do that as soon as I get back quick break to get some food from mcdonalds lol! :P 1:15am

I flahsed using Winflasher and not the script, I will use the script when I change to the 6970 bios again, gimme 15 min il be back

Ok so I used to script to switch to a 6970 BIOS changed my clocks to 880/1375 and went to run furmark than booom froze up on me, I have just switched back to 6950 Bios with the increased shaders and 840/1325 man this sucks balls. Any other ideas buddy?

I'm sorry to hear it's not going well.

Because you're still getting the problems when you used MSI Afterburner I don't even know if this is working but if this has happened with the 6970 BIOS then it seems it could just be the card.

These guys have powercolour and don't seem to be having problems just like every other brand I've seen. It's a strange one.

Well since you're back to the 6950 unlocked BIOS, are you still at 20% in Power Control Settings in the CCC control panel?. If yes, then put it back to 0%. up the clocks in Afterburner again to 1.175 and check for artifacts. What are you using to test btw?. Also what is your PSU model and wattage?.
Im not needing to use anything to test the artifacting happens very quickly at my desktop but I normally use 3d furmark. I have a Toughpower 1200w PSU and Power Control settings are at 0%. I will try upping the voltage again in msi after burner and see wht happens
