ATi Catalyst 9.7 Released

9.7 on Vista 64 here.
Oh dear god, terrible. Just run 3DMark Vantage and it's complete pants.
Flickering blocks on the screen, water effects are all over the scene.

Rolling back!

after you install vantage, and run it restart the PC, sometimes it takes a few go i had that

and yes 9-7 don't like me ethoir, so I m back with 9-5s again, white boxes appear on arma 2 and its anonying and choopy game play

Apart from the horrid looking menu's my frame rate on my 4870x2 has gone up esp on single card games like wow that only make use of a single gpu but Cod 4 looks crap now some of the rails AA is not working.

otherbug was the windows 7 look went to classic and the gpu was on 100% use and the fans went crazy only way to fix the problem was shut down n reboot!

hope they patch them up..

I seem to have found the opposite to a lot of people with these drivers. I have moved from 9.6 to 9.7 on win7 with no problems at all, infact many games have seen a boost and windows experience gfx tests went from 6.3 to 6.8.

Last night, I fired up Arma 2 and saw the crossfire logo in the right corner of the screen and 3 seconds later my pc crashed. After tinkerring with ati 4890 setting wth am I doing wrong, finally I disabled crossfire Arma 2 worked like charm.

It was a bit confusing in the beginning took me awhile to understarnd the new layout.

I didn't get no boost from crossfire, in that game, I know they both was working, cos i had two GPuz running on sensor mode

and it was pixaleted like hell

(vista 64bit btw)

so it sounds like it only likes win 7 atm

why people having such a problem with Arma 2 performance - its not 60fps great - but its perfectly playable

with an oc'd 4890 - 1900x1200, FSAA set to normal or low, Antiostopic - to high, post processing, low, objects high, terrain normal etc, distnace 3000m

I get 30fps most of the time, somtimes dips to 28, and very worst case in some towns about 25

but stays smooth - and perfectly playable

Well mine isnt smooth making it unplayable. This is with 2 4890s. I had just about got it running well before the new drivers. Now its jumping between about 28 and 6 fps.

I really want to get into it but finding it so frustrating.

9.5 > 9.7 here.

I've not run any benchmarks but things 'feel' smoother in the few games I've played.

The new CCC layout is a step backwards for the sake of looks though. More clicks to do the same job is never good.

So I decided to have a bit of a look into AMD's boasting about the 9.7's supposedly giving W7 some pro performance. I downloaded the slated 'RTM' of 7600.16385, and I've just installed the fresh copy.

I have tried the 7100 RC with cat 9.6 a couple times before and always scored a 6.8 on both graphics scores (this is also with testing on a fresh copy).

With these 9.7 it's now scoring at 7.6 on both :O

Now I dunno whether this is just the new windows build or whether these 9.7's are that damn good.

I will test out Crysis tomorrow, can't be arsed right now as it's 1:30am :(

Stay tuned.

I think I might give these drivers a go, I'm currently on Windows 7 x64 (build 7100). The windows experience index is giving me a score of 6.8 all round at the moment for graphics performance, this is with a standard Sapphire 4870 1GB. I'll report back as to whether I have as much luck, or as little in some cases as other people are having.

Is it possible to download the 9.7 driver, and the 9.6 CCC and install the 9.6 CCC with these 9.7 drivers and have all improvements of the 9.7?
