Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me?

Just built my new rig as follows: AMD 965 Phenom 2, 4 gb g-skill ram, WD black edition HD, Asus 5770 GPU and a corsair 650 psu.

I clean installed winows 7 pro 64 bit.

However, I downloaded and installed the latest Catalyst suite and whilst it is showing in the start menu its not showing in the tray and if I click on the menu the blue circle timer briefly appears then nothing happens.

I have managed to uninstall evrything using drive sweeper and start fresh however the same problem reoccurs. And if it helps, when in the uninstall panel in windows it will not even let me uninstall, had to use ccleaner.

Hope someone can assist as its driving me spare!

Many Thanks

Andrew

It looks like the CCC is not picking your gfx card up as being present. In Device Manager does it say that the card is there but that it has a problem or that/and that the drivers are not installed? Did the CCC installer show any errors after it finished?

I had this issue not long back and it turned out to be a faulty card - it wouldn't let me uninstall the drivers and it wouldn't run the CCC, I also got a minor error message at the end of the installation. You could try making sure the card is properly seated and that all mobo drivers are correctly installed. Failing that I don't know what to suggest.

Would it be possible for you to borrow a mates card and try that in your machine to see if it makes a difference?

Sorry I couldn't be any better help but at least it's something to try.

Right, I officially throw in the towel. Have uninstalled, drive sweeped, and reinstall catalyst .10; .11; .12 all witht he same result. Catalyst is showing in the start menu and when I right click as an option but selecting it does absolutely nothing. Installing it doesn't even update the driver in the device manager and the system was using the generic driver.

The only limited success I have had is installing the hotfix, which now means windows is using the correct driver. however, still no access to catalyst.

Thought briefly it was a privileges thign but specifically choosing 'run as amdinistrator' still gave the same results.

Any ideas anyone, may run over my gfx card soon!

Do the drivers work? (Run the Windows Experience Index score test, if you get 1.0 then they don't...) If they do, you might just have to update the .NET Framework.

I remember having to do this on XP (as it only comes with 1.1) however I think Windows 7 comes with 3.0, so it may be a non issue...

The experience index shows 7.4. As for .net I think I read windows 7 comes with the latest?
I'm not 100%. If it shows 7.4 then the drivers are working correctly, it's just an issue with CCC. Try installing .NET 3.5, it won't break anything if it's already installed.

You may want to launch CCC then check the Event Log to see if a reason is given for it exiting.

Well, I sorted it, kind of, reinstalled windows from scratch then used the disc that came with it to install catalyst and it now works, albeit an older version. Will hang tight until more stable 5770 drivers are released. Cheers for your help and suggestions guys!

I have the same problem with my CCC - going from older CCC to a new one just stops it working, windows7 64bit.. doesnt bother me atm, things still work properly ;)

Yes I'm back on the older ccc that came on the asus disc which is working. My only concern now is the like of aliens vs predator next month, would've prefrred the latest drivers etc for that!
