Ati caught cheating again?

no worries, I'm always chilled.

I just used the same heading for this thread, as used at xtremesystems.

and just had to deal with final8ly claim that I had used the term or implied the last time they were caught cheating was recent.

I'm sure more experienced people such as Rroff, Kylew and Drunkenmaster will know.

Its amazing how fast these threads descend into crude remarks and sniping, to imply cheating would be to imply a deliberate act to outwit the competition, all i see is a performance enhancing feature easily disabled by the end user, always included in the driver package being overlooked by so called professional reviewers.

Oh look, cheating using something well documented that is provided as an option to the graphics card user. It is up to the user to turn it on and off not ATI.

You're very boring sometimes, still not over the Fermi cards not being the monsters you thought they would be this generation?

it doesnt, thats where this all falls apart. af doesnt have an impact on performance basically, so all this is just a certain 'group of people' attempting to make something out of nothing
 
No one even agrees with this thread on XS, no one could care less about optimisations that are made to improve performance if visual quality hardly takes any hit.

Optimisations =/= cheating.

If the posted picture comparison is the best you got I'd rather take the extra fps since I don't see any difference. Unnoticeable optimisations

I am happy that video card manufacturers make optimisations to get the best performance out of their hardware. Whether it be ATI or NVidia, if I cannot spot any visual differences, and such optimisations provide more or smoother FPS, it's a good thing.

Considering no ones noticed any difference in IQ between ATI and Nvidia cards suggests this isnt really an issue. ATI optimizations making smoother FPS with zero to minimal IQ reductions, oh no :( How evil can they be?

Seriously, both cards play the game and play it well. Why all pointless mud-slinging between ATI and Nvidia fanboys recently? its worse then UK politics.
 
Both have done it in the past,it is silly of either of them to do it now or in the future because everything is put under a microscope and they almost always get caught.

If it was a optimization to get more performance they should have said and give a option to people to chose but if it is a bug then they need to fix it in 10.4/5 and say so.
