ATI HD 3870 X2 (R680); Official Specifications & Images

id buy this in a second if they are under £250.

but remember, the 7950gx2 was two mobile 7950s, so are these going to be the desktop varients?

Under 200 tom you gotta be having a laugh this will be the fastest card on the market as from reviews i have seen 3850 crossfire beats a gtx in most things never mind 3870's on the same board which should be faster than crossfire 3870s which will beat any single card on the market when working properly.

It has to be udner £250 or its not worth it, I rekon an 8800Ultra/GTX can beat 3870 crossfire when AA is applied.

I think you'd need a lot of AA though, the second core is going to offset a fair portion of the performance hit IMO. :)

Hmmm, it dont in 3870CF though, I guess it really does work as one card so the way the cores work must be different, lets hope its under 250 then, I'm saving up and allready can spend 250 on a new GPU.

This could be a nice shot in the arm for ATI. Something to gee nvidia up a bit with a bit competition at last both getting cards out at launch and cost of 'em:).

Thats what they thought about the R600 Vs 8800's :p

Ati slipped this year as nvidia did with 5 series i expect better from r700 as they need to bounce back. People seem to forget the great cards they have been making since the 9700 was released and also now that they joined with amd they will have more experience in lower manufacturing process's as cpu's are lower atm than gpu's if the 2 companies can get it right we may be in for a great partnership.

I remember the great cards they were making, I had one :p, but It wont surprise me if they mess up again with the R700.

Why is that tbh they made great cards and made 1 crap series as did nvidia not hard to believe they will pull it back. Tbh they need a good card next more than ever so i think it will be faster than nvidias next offering.

These dual cards have never excited me, reckon we will see the usual 5fps-15fps boost with the second card in the going average game...

Reckon a nice Geforce 9 series card will still fair a lot better.

lol TheRealDeal you should be pitched against LoadsaMoney in......"FanBoy Fight of 2007, ATI vs NVidia"

We really cant tell what either of the next generations of cards will bring us until we see reliable reviews. Speculation breeds hype and at the end of the day hype kills hardware that doesnt perform as well as expected.

AMD still has the potential to screw up, I wouldn't be surprised just disappointed. Especially with a lack of R&D cash at the moment :(

All Ati can do at the moment is try and keep the production costs nice and low, and sell high :)
