ati or nvidia ????

Tbh you sound like you would rather stick with Nvidia seeing as you have ignored the 6950 :p The gtx 480 would be quite a bit louder than your 9800gt though it does depend on the cooler on your current card but personally I would avoid unless you get an aftermarket cooler.

If you want silence then would recommend the 570 as they generally run quiet. Maybe a gtx 560 if you want to save some money.

could i use the 9800 for PhysX and gtx for main ???

YUP...

I would get the 480 at that price .. best performance at that price range and will save you some money for other updates.. If your case is good and you have some extra fans in it, it should be fine... BTW what case and cooling do you have right now ? some pictures may help too ..

You dont want to be runing 2 monitors on a gtx 480. Just gets to hot. My default monitor is Asus VG236HE. Soon as i enable my 2nd monitor in control panel my card has gone up to 58c from 42c idle. And the funny thing is my 2nd monitor aint even pluged in at the power socket so only use 1 monitor even tho 2 is enabled.

Its now at 60c. And the temp is rapidly droping soon as i disabled the 2nd monitor. The MSI 6950 is the best card to get at the moment for £189.98 inc VAT

For the price v performance and with power draw in mind the 6950 checks the most boxes. It has 2gb of memory, can be flashed to a 6970, doesn't run too hot or noisey and is not as juicey as some of the other cards.

If you want to go nVidia and don't mind the 'possibility' (since it is down to user experience) of higher temps or noise, then get the 480. If that is not suitable then you have the 570.

Have a play around with this, it'll help you compare various cards.

You could RMA your current card. What is the warranty on it?

The ten year warranty on the 570 you linked to is good, though I wouldn't let that alone make the decision for me, since well before the expiry you will have upgraded to another card anyway.
