You have to ask yourself whether the cost of another copy of windows is worth the £77.99 (OcUK price for 64bit). Using the 32 bit version is not the cause of your problem and i doubt you will see much difference in everyday use if you have 3Gb of system memory as opposed to 4Gb

I actually bought 2 retail copies of windows 7 home premium, with both 32 and 64bit versions in each pack, for £45 each when they were on pre order. One was for my desktop and one was for my laptop and i never installed the laptop version so i have a copy sitting in my desk. But don't ask to buy it as it aint for sale :D

agreed, unless you are planning on increasing your ram in the near furture i would save your pennies and get the system stable and see how it feels.

it can do yeah, my i7 was a biatch to get stable, but every little change can impact something else, so its worth trying, if it dont fix it, it aint gunna kill anything, so no harm done.

My current settings are:

Ram timings: 9-9-9-24 @ 1600Mhz

BLCK: 181Mhz
Multi: 22
QPI: 5790Mhz

CPU 4.0Ghz
CPU Voltage: 1.40v
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.80200v
IMC: 1.28525v
PCH 1.06000v
DRAM: 1.65625

Can i ask if you have done your research on overclocking that CPU?
i only ask as i have an i7 920 but my overclock is only to 3.6 (i find i don't need any more power than that) its just that 1.4v on the cpu looks a little bit high as i have my CPU v core at 1.12. I am not really clued up on overclocking these i7's so i could be wrong but those figures just don't seem right somehow, maybe someone else here who know what they are doing can look at those figures. Also, my QPI link (using CPU-Z) is at 3096.

And, have you checked your motherboard bios is up to date?

Well i just hope you have been monitoring your temps while the system is under load.

Just checked on another forum and some people get to 4Ghz on an i7 860 on 1.2v but others need between 1.35v and 1.39v. Its allways best to find out the lowest voltage your chip will run at stable as this will cut down on heat.

Did your monitor go to sleep while you were away from the PC? There's a known problem with the 10.12 drivers.

The way around it is to downgrade to 10.11 or make it so your monitor never sleeps by changing the power saving settings in Windows. It's fine to still let the PC itself go to sleep.

I've beeb priming for about 45 minutes. The temps are at 57. I've got my own watercooling setup and even when I'm priming for 7+ hours the temps never reach 60 to 62+

I think I did get a BSOD when I was around 1.35 - 1.37 after knocking them up they seemed fine. The thing is though the BSOD reports don't really tell me if its my memory or cpu when I have them.

I have had BSOD saying summat about an external clock time out (Summat like that) which I think is to do with the voltage being too low.

I had the exact same bsod and error messege when i tried to crossfire a pair of 6850's, i messed about for a week to get it to run but gave up in the end and got a 6970 instead, i tried updating the cards bios but no good, i was then advised to do a fresh install of windows but by then i had enough of them and sent them back
