atikmpag.sys BSOD

but if its system instability or windows/virus issues, then he could be wasting money for nothing. personally i would have a go at resolving a problem rather than ditching it and shelling out money.

Given that his problem is to do with ATIKMDAG.SYS, with which there have been numerous well documented problems going back several years, the chances of it being anything other than the ATI drivers are remote.

He's already stated that it does it with everything at stock, so instability is unlikely. As for Windows/virus issues, a full reinstall of Windows with the bare minimum of drivers/software installed would test that but I presume he's already tried that.

he has not stated that it has been tried. if he wants to go nvidia then thats his choice, and if there are issues with certain drivers, then uninstall them, use a driver cleaner and install a different version. at the end of the day, it seems like the OP wants an nivdia card and not to actually resolve this issue, so that is probably his best course of action.
me personally, would rather go through every option before spending money, but maybe thats just me.

The one I brought from OCUK was the "Home prem OEM software" it only came with the 32bit of win 7

Will do. I brought this card in October last year for £270 been having problems ever since clocked or non clocked system.

Bought. :)

It's ridiculous how often you see people say this, and no, all of you don't have dyslexia.

I've had a few graphics cards from nvidia and they've never failed on me. This would be my 3rd Ati card now, and every one, I've had problems with. I started out with the 9800pro, xt850, and now my asus 5850.

Why do ati, putting it nicely, suck.

I cannot even play trials 2 in fullscreen because it bluescreens! LAME

I really wanna buy an nvidia card now. I've never had any problems with ATI stuff until now.

Make up your mind.

I get the distinct feeling that you're not really sure what you're doing. It's very interesting that you suddenly remember that all your ATi cards have had problems when you decide that they're crap, after previously saying all your ATi cards have been fine...

I think it's PEBKAC.
