ATi's R600 Tech demo (pics)

i hope it comes out early and has a nice but not too big an edge over the 8800gtx so i can pick up a 2nd one for SLI cheap.

in all likelyhood it sounds as though it could absolutely thump the 8800 series, but then again it needs too for DAMMIT's sake :)

The move to 65nm GPU will make the difference esp if it is clocked at say 1.4 ghz, <snip>
If it's clocked at 1.4Ghz, then it'll make the 8800GTX look like an FX5200. I think 750~800Mhz is a more likely clock speed.

I'm sorry - but are we looking at the same pictures - the ones in that link look absolutely rubbish  Yes I know motion blur makes it difficult, but seriously...

If you want nice, someone found these across in the Games section:

Now those are awesome shots...

If that's supposed to sell the card then I'd be worried... very worried - I suppose we'll have to wait for the video

OK when's the best time to sell my 2 week old 8800GTS to get maximum cash back?

this could go on and on

Im just going to laugh at all the people getting 8800's so quick when theres no real DX10 games out yet :P. I can understand getting a 8800GTS 320MB instead of a X1950XT ect but 8800GTX SLI systems make me LOL :p.

Yes im a ATI fanboy!

Maybe they are using the two 8800GTXs for Oblivion @ 2560 x 1600 maxxed out.

The reason I got a 8800GTS wasnt for DX10 it was because I wanted decent DX9 performance.

And how can you laugh when no one knows what the G80 or R600 is like in DX10 at all. The G80 could destroy the R600 in DX10 or the other way round or they will both be on the page which is probabilly likely.

ppl who think that others buy the 8800 series for DX10 alone make me LOL.

and anyone who still uses letters for nicknames should be sent to h311 :)

I am sure that everyone would agree that ATI or Nvidia getting too far ahead of the competition is not good for us, it would mean that the leader can charge what they like. As people in the thread are pointing out, Nvidia likely has as product waiting in the wings that will outperform R600, and my point is, that we are all being stuck buying 8800 cards at a relative premium, where as if R600 had been released at the same time the prices would have dropped and we would probably be looking at the next generation cards being released, where as Nvidia can just sit tight and take the cash right now.
