Any genre, as long as it's atmospheric.

Been going through my games & noticed the ones I tend to replay are the really well made atmospheric ones, so I got to wondering what else is out there that some of us perhaps never played or even heard about.

List of some I have:

The Forest.
The Park.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.
F.E.A.R.
The Swapper.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
SOMA.
Penumbra series.
Alan Wake series.
Among The Sleep.
Homeworld series.
LIMBO & INSIDE.
Metro series.
The Long Dark (survival mode only).
Alien Isolation.
Dear Esther. (both versions).
Brothers: A tale of two sons.

Noticed most of these lean towards the horror genre. Not sure if that's because it's easier on that type of game or because I tend to have more spooky games than not.

Firewatch, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture, The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter.

You've mentioned a lot of decent horror games, but Dead Space is definitely one.

Had just checked out Everybody's Gone To The Rapture on youtube today, doesn't seem to do well in reviews. Will check out more later.
Dead Space, forgot about that one. It's definitely atmospheric, but the controls... Reminds me, still need to complete those :D

Play it with a pad, it's great. DS1 was my favourite by far, DS2 was alright but giving Isaac a voice all of a sudden was an odd choice. DS3 doesn't exist.

Alas, I'm one of those stubborn ones that insists on M&KB unless it's driving style or rare occasion platforming & want to get lazy in chair hehe.
DS series sounds like the F.E.A.R. series. First was great, second was okay, third? What third? /sulks ;)

I always remember an old game call Shadowman having a really cool atmosphere, scared the hell out of me when I was younger.

Shame the game hasn't really aged well, pretty clunky controls and poor graphics these days, music is awesome though!

Ooh, forgot all about that game, thanks.
/checks gog.
Yep, I own it, time to get that downloading again :D

Agreed re:controls too.

Ooh, just noticed. Got Soundtrack & alternative soundtrack on there

Dark Souls 1 has atmospheric environments with minimal storytelling. It has that gnarly, worn-in desolate feel that the sequels lack.

Edit: missed that you already had Amnesia.

I would like others recommend Firewatch and Everyones gone to the rapture.

Walking simulators, but very engrossing

Doesn't fit the scope fully but The Witcher 3 does a really good job of building up a world with the ambient sounds and everything that happens around you.

Haven't looked into Firewatch, I gather it's akin to The Long Dark?
Except for being in the wilderness, not at all. It's a story driven walk through some lovely wyomig forest in the 80s. Except there is something not quite right.
