System Shock 2.
A great example, its probably aged badly, but its oozes atmosphere.
Except for being in the wilderness, not at all. It's a story driven walk through some lovely wyomig forest in the 80s. Except there is something not quite right.
Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice seems to fit the bill perfectly from the reviews. It is very story focussed and depicts the harsh reality of living with schizophrenia very well. See: http://store.steampowered.com/app/414340/Hellblade_Senuas_Sacrifice/

Cry of Fear
Layers of Fear
Can't believe I forgot to put System Shock2 in my list![]()
Yep, been contemplating this. Not overly keen on all the stuff on screen when near puzzles, but I've heard everyone raving about the audio side of things![]()
Cry of Fear is so tense throughout the entire game - it may look a bit dated now but it takes nothing away from the game. I just completed it myself for the first time a couple of months back and it's in my top 5 horror games for invoking feelings of sheer terror. It's also free to download from Steam by the way...Layers of Fear, good catch.
Never heard of the other before now.
I've been playing that this weekend, can definitely recommend. Wouldn't have even been on my radar if Jim Sterling hadn't given it a 1/10 for that bug he encountered.Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice seems to fit the bill perfectly from the reviews.
