Got an interview with ATOS Origin later this week and im pretty nervous

not usually nervous for interviews but this is a big company offering a good job, salary and benefits and im worried ill mess it up somehow

being a large IT company im sure someone on OcUK has at least gone for an interview with them

what should i expect want to be as prepared as possible

its for a tech support role

Thanks

They will ask you stuff.

Probably stuff related to the job you applied for.

well i figured they might but i am asking if there will be any testing or other surprises.....

I think it was Huddy who wrote a very good interview guide. I am sure a search will find it.

yes seen it great guide but i was hoping someone had specific experience with ATOS

Not with ATOS, but with most other similar employers.

Just be prepared for anything relating to the role. Review your own experience that relates directly to the environment you're wanting a job in. Have plenty of experiences to relate to.

Same as any other interview really, just do your homework beforehand.

Wouldn't expect it to be too bad ... well they employed me ;)

You say Tech Support, is it Unix, Wintel, Desktop or Apps and where is it if you don't mind me asking? (I am aware of some interviews going on at the moment in area near to me so I'm interested if yours is related to those)

If it's Unix then expect some technical questions (but not to bad if you know what you say you know on your CV (questions are tailored to that normally)).

edit: oh and in general AO tend to be very hot on change control so don't forget to mention it and if they ask about arranging work don't forget to mention change control reviews and back out plans.

You might get brownie points if you can mention something about AO's involvement with the Olympics (IT integration)

Tech support at Atos could mean anything, I deal with them a lot for hosting in their datacenters and they're involved in our out-of-hours helpdesk. Honestly they have pies in everything and I'm getting more and more convinced they're spreading their fingers a bit too thin.

I know that makes no sense to you, but it does to me.

Agreed with all of the above. I know someone who works for AO and like all of the big consulting operations they've got fingers in everything from big Government contracts to small firms to the Olympics.

Be prepared. Do your research about AO and the job you're applying for, and expect to be asked about anything you've put on your CV.

I used to work for AO in London, started on their grad scheme.

If it's tech support you're likely to be trying for a job in Managed Operations (as opposed to Systems Integration, which is dev work). They love knowledge of change control, SLAs, basically showing that you know how to work to a proscribed set of rules.

Fire any specific questions at me, though keep in mind I left 3 years ago now!

Edit: as part of the grad scheme recruitment we had an IT theory test but nothing taxing, not sure about experienced hires.

actually the job is working directly with the Olympics

Currently we are having exciting opportunity for Service Desk Level 1 to join our Major Events business area from where we design, build, implement, test, and run the whole of the IT environment for each Olympic Games. This is a 3 years contract.

Key responsibilities:
• First point of contact for users with Technology related incidents,
• Receive calls and handle emails from users in relation to any Technology incident

will probably research as much as i can and take print outs to read just before i go in

I joined as a grad but not through the grad scheme. Was in MO third line support for many years before moving into other areas within Core Services.

The other thing for the OP to mention as well as Change Control and SLAs is Lean. Atos has been in a big Lean push for the last year and the changing of procedures to fit the Lean mindset has been changing the way things are tackled all over the business, (even though most of it just seems to be common sense). Mentioning it may score points.

Oh, so they're using an onshore Service Desk for the Olympics then, interesting. Well Service Desks can benefit a lot from Lean methodology to improve efficiency and thus improve the first time fix rate and reduce the load on the higher support lines. Improved knowledgebases so known fixes can be identified more quickly being one item which can normally be identified as being a possible win. You can find info on Atosorigin and the Olympics by working around from here (see the menus for instance)

they provide occupational health services to the civil service, thats all I know about them

Yep, Atos Healthcare.

well for those that care had the interview and got the feedback today

didn't get it

while they were impressed with my technical knowledge they said i didn't show enough enthusiasm for the role

but that's just the way i am im not one of the bubbly types im pretty laid back in everything....

/shrug

I was outsourced to Atos about 4 years ago, working in Desktop Support.

After 3 years working for their Managed Operations in the same job, they themselves outsourced my team to Phoenix IT Services.

Without going into too much detail, I wasn't that impressed by the company as a whole. There's a lot of talk about this and that but nothing ever seems to get done. They seemed/seem far more interested in policy and procedure than in actually getting stuff done, they seemed reluctant to take on board many/any views of the current staff that might actually help them do what they were there to do, and the management structure from my experience is very impersonal.

Still, it's a big company with contracts all over so perhaps I've just had a bad experience.

Can't comment on the Application Support interview process as it's not an area I've worked in but my previous general comments still stand.

The Nottingham office is in Beeston, right by the railway station, and the building is only about a year old. It's not to bad an office to work in most of the time.

I work for Atos Origin in SI (as a developer).

My interview was a 30 minute one with my (now) line manager and one of the technical architects. I had a few technical questions (depending on what you're supporting, I'd expect some .NET/SQL questions etc), and then some more non technical stuff.

However the process would depend entirely on who is interviewing you - if you were going for a job in one of the factories you may only be interviewed by HR.

Thanks for info guys.

Been told the interview will last two hours.

One hour with Hr and then the technical interview.

Sql .Net is need to brush i guess.

Anythign that is HOT at Atos at the moment, i see change control is....

Don't work for Paul Bradley do you?

At times wish I was still there, but EH got the better of me. Company I work for I understand are bidding on EH!
