ATOS Origin Interview this week

Just applied for a job with them based on this thread! Certainly one of the easier website applications:

"What's your name"
"Upload CV"

done :)

I assume that's from experience of working with them rather than reading the Daily Mail?.

I have experience of family members being assessed by the branch that runs the benefit assessment. I'm actually more angry at the Govermnet for the terrible way they're handling disability claims but ATOS share responsibility.

I presume you mean ATOS Healthcare, rather than ATOS Origin? Or have ATOS Origin, the global IT provider, done something to upset you?

it's part of the same same company.

Hi - Got an interview as DBA in Nottingham.

Any tips? would really appreciated.

- mention the importance of change control (standard ITIL stuff)
- if you know anything about Lean you might want to mention that
- Atos were systems integrator for the Olympics (and have been for quite a few of them) ... hence the Atos lanyards all over the place ... so mention that.

If your interview is really soon then allow a little extra time to get there if going by public transport as the station exit by the office is currently closed which adds some extra time to stroll around (supposed to re-open next Monday but the speed the council are working on it ...)

So the DBA area have been recruiting too ... I know that Unix and Storage have been recruiting quite heavily recently.

The main thing, as some have mentioned, is to know your exPerience and be able to relate it to the role you will be doing.

I have been interviewing and hiring for about 6-7 years now and if someone cannot do the above they get nowhere near the role despite how glib they are or how good their CV is.

Good luck!

Is the Nottingham office still in that horrible old ex railways building? Back in my Atos days met some great people there, but the office was nasty!

Good luck with the interview!

No, Atos moved from there quite some time ago (and in fact that building has been demolished and the site is being redeveloped ... about time too). The office is now in Beeston (for the IT side at least, I think there is a Healthcare office elsewhere in Nottingham but have no knowledge of it).

You could be faced with any version of Oracle from ~7 to 11g, RAC, Exadata etc ... basically it's outsourcing so anything and everything.

MO side there probably less than 10 DBAs in Beeston, (more at other locations around the country I suspect in cross site virtual teams). SI side I don't know as I don't have much contact with that area.
