Attack on NI military base

The comparisons with Afghanistan and Iraq have to stop.

They're all completely different types of operation, don't forget we are acting in coalition with many allies in Telic and Herrick.

Yep, we have allies this time. But where still stuck in the middle of two sides trying to kill each over, whilst trying to stop them with out much sucess, due to the rules of enagement not beeing update since the major threat was the russians.

Because little-to-none of your posts have been from experience. It's like you've been reading a Northern Irish Andy McNabb novel and basing your comments on stories.

All the stories and all the reading in the world can't qualify you to be taken seriously in a thread about this ****ed-up little country.

Nothing personal dude.

Fine **** this, if you want to take your pms out on me. do it i dont give a rats arse, all i was doing was explain the tactic to someone who asked what went down with the cops being out of the patrol viechle.

Oh and btw i know every SOP of the british armys patrol units, which are the same as those adopted by the RUC. so i know a fair amount of the types of ambushes and the ways to break contact...

They have been updated in Iraq/Afghan, but the same rules don't apply here, it's not open warfare against the British, it's small 'secret' guerilla warfare, and if it escalates there's still masses of hate on each side that's just being surpressed, and could turn very nasty. But that won't be instant.

Yup. But he still hates it. All he does is **** it off - whilst claiming from it.

Whats the matter, have you got nothing better to do than bring that up in an NI thread? Take your vendetta to email please, don't trash this thread. Wow, £46 a week is a lot compared to what PFI gets. Or the LDA.

WTF!?

We're not talking marching the streets here.

And there aren't 27,000 here to monitor things, mainly because there aren't 27,000 here.

You're forgetting we're not still in the troubles. We've moved on.

We have running water and electricity now you know.

Sorry, was that an old number? Someone quoted it in here. What were you implying specifically if not troop deployment?

We're not in the troubles? The impression people give in this thread suggests otherwise. As for running water and electricity, that'll be an Iraqi issue...

I'm talking actually monitoring the situation carefully and making the correct moves rather than going back to the old ways of marching the streets, being imposing figures and searching every home.

I really cannot take you seriously. Off to the ignore list.

Wonder what the road blocks will be like in the morning, how far they will stretch from the scene?

You'll not be able to hit the roundabouts or get past Centrepoint without landing at at least one. If they don't find the bomb at the police station then then the whole bottom half of the town will probably still be cordoned off in the morning.

Luckily I don't have to go to Lurgan tomorrow like I was going to, wonder how far towards Portadown they'll go, doubt there'll be anything as far up as Northway.

The majority of the Norn Irish in this thread are saying that things are still fine and a lot of this is being blown waaaaay out or proportion, especially by the national media.

Indeed I dislike what it has become.

You seem quite a bitter young man tbh.

That will make my trip from home to portadown on a bloody 125 handy. Will end up having to go through the cash.

What is it you do?

You say you have CT training?

I'd be interested to hear your view on this Scuzi and what could happen next as you seem quite knowledgable on the subject.

I'll tell you more tomorrow when I get back home. As it stands I know as much as everyone else. I know the area like the back of my hand since it is where I was born and bred and I've thrown my fair share of stones at the army in days gone by but I can tell you that the majority of people in the area will show no support for these attacks at all. The problem is that Craigavon in particular is an absolute hole, rife with unemployment and drugs. There are plenty of 16-21 year olds who are more than willing to pick up a gun and shoot at the police and army simply because they have nothing else to do. The trouble is that there are ring leaders in these areas handing guns out to these kids.

I think we will be expecting our centre management to warn all shops to be vigilant about suspicious devices in shops, and i would say shops in town centres will be told the same now just to be on the safe side

I've known kids from school who wanted to do just that.

Never understood it but I guess it was down to who they hung around with.
