Attack planed on psn over SOPA

'Yeah I don't think it'll work like that even though I haven't looked into it' is the most infuriating response I have ever had in my life. It will literally work like that. It is incredibly simple. SOPA wants sites to have permission to host copyrighted content, and those found to be hosting copyrighted material without permission will be blacklisted.

Here is the actual text;

And because you're probably going to go 'TLDR why don't you copy/paste the important bits', here's an adequate summary of SOPA that's easy to digest;

If that infographic isn't enough, here's another video explaining SOPA;

Whoa, chill out. I'm just saying that the Internet has got form for getting in a tizz about proposed legislation without it being clear what is being proposed or how it will operate.

Surprised...

As much as this SOPA thing I couldn't really care less about, it's almost like Sony are totally bowing down to these scum bags who are hacking them, they are obviously that paranoid that they will do it again (and are obviously capable?) that they have bowed to their demands and stopped supporting.

Bad idea really as they will start taking the wee and doing this to a lot of companies just saying if they don't stop supporting something or change something they will hack them. Bad move.

Sony has many business divisions. Notice that it said Sony Electronics and that is pretty vague or implies that area only. Pretty sure that their film and music divisions still support SOPA.

What's next? 'Calm down bro'? You're boring me now. You just can't comprehend what SOPA is.

SOPA, along with the PROTECT IP act in the Senate, give content-producing companies the right to order a take down for a website that they believe is infringing on a copyright. If you even host links to content that infringes on a copyright, you have to take it down.

What part of this don't you understand? Why do you struggle to see why such an uproar over this is being made and why these major companies are standing down from their support of SOPA over sheer customer feedback?

You miss my point as well. Panics like this on the net are fairly commonplace. The things being panicked about are not always as bad as is being suggested. Hence I am wanting to see how things develop before I get dragged into some panic over what later turns out to be unenforceable, toothless rubbish.

Captain Jack does not like SOPA.

i understand that they would be annoyed at the sopa bill, but what sort of bunch of teen hackers need to target psn?? they need to get out more, or find a girl and un shrink wrap their p33ns and actually use them

Yeah because hacking the PSN is so easy and gets no media attention, drawing attention do their cause at all lol

not really, its a bunch of people who dont respect the law, im no saint, but theyre just annoying more than anything
