Attention E46 owners..

And where do you propose manufacturers to put it? Extend the dashboard so its the height of my head? Oh wait, then I can't see.

What are you on about? As mentioned previously, have a flip up screen or certainly something higher up. It's not rocket science. Something closer to eye level is clearly lightyears better in terms of road safety than something that forces you to look down at the floor. Where do you think 99.9999999999% of people stick their TomToms? It's not on the bloody floor so that they can listen to 'audio prompts'.

We've got a similar company pushing the product in the exactly same way for Vauxhall as well.
Heres the guy who came across it on his travels as a business rep.

And once people actually bought them:

Promo shots look very familiar too, wouldnt be surprised if they came out of the same chinese factory.

It was looking good until I saw the picture where the plastics weren't the same shiny type. Even so, it looks like it has good integration, the top screen seemed to be displaying the track name etc of the new nav.

Does it use the steering wheel controls?

Good thing you're not anything to do with car design then, I guess.

At the end of the day it's pretty reasonable for anyone to understand that having a satnav not stuffed next to your knee miles out of your eyeline is a good idea. Not much point going any further than this.

yep

full canbus integration apparently

thats what made me think they were related.

I take it there is no standard Double DIN unit, with these only being manufacturer specific ?

so its an incarpc. Shock. In addition, it uses the worst windows mobile operating system known to man....

Try and make your own, it would be a lot better and cheaper and can also look OEM with the right surround and touch screen

Obviously you can make your own. But this product is targetted towards people like me who don't want to rip apart their interior, cut stuff up or have the time/knowhow to make a carpc or source all the different bits of trim.

This should take no more than a couple of hours to fit and should just work. The software it's running doesn't *seem* bad? It seems snappy enough and everything seems to work, so i have no problem with that either.

The 'right' surround costs nearly as much as this unit on it's own.

Whilst youre at it, why pay for components, hand carve them out of match sticks and needles, why pay someone to make them for you.

Economies of scale, its cheaper/easier/convenient to buy it ready made.

I have a solution, just drive the car at night so nobody can see that the fascia is actually very slightly different in material quality than OEM.

Problem Solved.

I agree, but the finish, I think, lets it down

I have no idea what the finish is like as I've never used one.

Then there is the whole functionality versus finish debate. I really like well built stuff. Plastic stuff annoys me. But then limited functionality annoys me also.

Which annoys me less, who knows
