No he hasnt. He has sent it insured. Take an old damaged cpu, smash it, post off, refund buyer, claim from post office for your new £799 5960X. Result :)

Ahh okay, that's a bit of a stretch to assume the RM done that? If it was hermes or yodel I wouldn't be surprised though :D

Why does the packaging look like it was opened by a bear on speed?

It was opened where the rip is that u can see in the first photo i posted. And because of the amount of cellotape around it. Thats the course it took.

Also i didnt repackage it. Got postman to come back he looked at it and put it in a sleeve thing.

I can't imagine the force you'd need to smash up a CPU like that (surprisingly I've never tried  )

Either someone at Royal Mail was having a bad day and decided to jump up and down on it wearing ice skates or this guy is trying to pull a fast one.

Hopefully it gets sorted out for you.

What services did they use? It seems like they're trying to do an insurance scam, they'd need it to be sent by special delivery for that.

Looking at those photographs, since they were in the exact same package shouldn't the sticks of RAM be in a similar condition to the CPU:confused:
For the CPU to suffer that kind of catastrophic damage I would have expected the Ram to be in a similar condition.
Yep,I would say this has all the hallmarks of insurance fraud by the seller.

If it was sent recorded then its already been signed for as delivered. I don't know if the postie can change the status from delivered to rejected.

Unless it was sent RMSD the max payout is £50 I think.

The split on the heatspreader looks like its been beny back and forwards a few times intentionally, btw wheres the rest of the CPU :/

And why did you open the parcel with what appears to be a machete?

cpu and cd case is totally trashed yet a long thin easily snappable ram stick looks completley fine.

not very smart con artist

One of the sticks of ram were nearly snapped in half in the middle. And divine wind ive explained why its like that.

And the rest of the cpu was broken into a million wee bits.

It was posted through the letterbox. Sent recorded delivery i thought i would have had to sign for it. But i didnt have to.

How much did you pay?
If it was only recorded Im sure he can claim for upto £50 only.
Or was it this RM tracked service that I've seen amazon use?
You dont need to sign for it but it is tracked.

Plot twist: OP's postman is Macho Man Randy Savage.
