Audi BMW rivalry

Yea, I bet it was, you basically turned up in your old 7 Series, he was kind enough to ask if you wanted to test drive the new model as you walked through the door, and you gave him a sarcastic reply and then swore at him.

Brilliant, way to go re-inforcing my stereotype of old 94-98 E38 drivers..

Nothing to do with the car I drive mate, its the stereotype truck driver after a 15 hour day that does that to me.

Was'nt a swearword as such, it was'nt complementary either. ;)

He was just doing his job.

Ok, so he jumped on you, who cares? Just a simple 'More than happy with my current one' would have ensured he'd quickly scurry off to hassle that couple beside the 3 Series over there instead.

If he was doing his job in a way that would'nt get my back up as soon as I stepped through the door, he would'nt have jumped on me as I walked in - Thus I would'nt have jumped back at him.

I used to sell cars for a living, and had more than enough sales managers prove to me thats NOT the right way of going about a sale. - Even in a run of the mill marque never mind BMW.

Some people don't mind it, others like me, do.

I half detected a hint of sarcasm in his voice which did'nt help the situation either.

No doubt his £30 > £60k pay packet has helped him get over his "ordeal by trucker". ;)

This made me laugh

went to an Audi dealership to look at TTs for the misses (bit more sensible then the M3 Coup that she wants) and as soon as the salesman saw me pull up in the M3 it starts

Him "Come to buy an RS4"
Me "Great car but no, more than happy with the M3"
Him "But the RS4 is much better"
Me "Dude your comparing a 5 year old car against a brand new one, wait till the new M3 is out and we will talk again"
Him "But thats 18 months away"
Me "And how long did it take audi to make and M3 "beater"?"
Him (ignores me last bit) "I would see your m3 on the track anyday"
Me "M3 is more fun being RWD for sideways action, lots of reviews still choose the m3 over the rs4 for that reason alone"
Him "Quatro is great"
Me "Lots of jernos have said that if you stopped pushing quatro and made a RWD version you would have the ultimate car"
Him "Quatro is great"
Me " Does it have manual yaw control"
Him "What"
Me " Vary the power between front and rear"
Him "Ahh it does that by computer!! (was very excited about that)"
Me "Thats not manual, in the Evo you can manual change the bias so as to enable some drifting action"
Him (looks blankly at me then turns to the misses) "So you want a TT then...."

He seemed pretty keen, were you not tempted by a test drive?

Exactly! Would have made for a more interesting day/story:-

This made me grin from ear to ear.

went to an Audi dealership to look at TTs for the misses (bit more sensible then the M3 Coup that she wants) and as soon as the salesman saw me pull up in the M3 it starts

Him "Come to buy an RS4"
Me "Great car but no, more than happy with the M3"
Him "But the RS4 is much better"
Me "Obviously I'd need a test drive before I'd even consider it"
Him "Here's the keys"

The End. It's a Mini adventure.

good point actually, although they didn't have one there

I may have to arrange a little test drive, although I know its sad but I feel bad (for a salesman how daft) when I test drive with no intention of buying :o
