My wife would veto that, the BMW is the only car brand she finds abhorent and I have to say I agree, she refers to the 3 series as the 'car of the aspiring chav'.

Yes you'll all say sell the wife and marry the car but I'm not all that keen on them myself. Might go and look and see if I could persuade her and myself but any other suggestions would probably go down better tbh

I love your wife.

Try looking at the Volvo S60 T5

It's what I got because I'm not a fan of 3 series and for the money it was newer, faster and a better spec than the equivalent and ubiquitous BMWs.

Out of all those I think it would be the Leon or much as it pains me the BMW :/

Might have to take the other half to have a look, I'm not in a huge hurry but I've had the Clio for 3/4 years now and I'm need a bit of a change.

Just about everything I'm looking at is £500 to insure, wierd

That looks nice

[Gos to investigate performance] :)

I sold my Cupra R today. The cupra R has the same engine as the 225 Audi TT.

For something equally nice?

And yes the 225bhp 1.8 turbo is used in the tt the cupra R and the s3. :)

The Leon would be great, and a bit more 'sporty' looking. But the interior quality won't be upto that of the Audi/BMW.

You can 'nearly' afford a mk4 Golf R32, which would be very cool, but probably too expensive to buy and run.

Personally I'd choose the S3 over the Seat, despite the Seat being a very good car. I've driven my aunt's S3 from the Alsace to Paris and it's effortless to drive quick, but it's also so comfortable on a long trip, quiet and refined. The engine is fantastic too - a few tinkers before you get it remapped can see you around 280bhp. Personally I think bar pure badge snobbery, the Audi out classes the LCR.

There is nothing wrong with the 4wd system on the S3, it is haldex and works very well at putting the power down. You can change the haldex control to give it rear bias quicker than normal if thats your thing. If you looking at S3s then make sure you get a later 225bhp one and not the 210. Go over to www.audi-sport.net and http://www.tyresmoke.net there are loads of guys there that can answer any questions you have.

Ford Focus RS
Audi S3
You can try the Leon equiv. but a friend had one and hated it (his was revo'd to 260ish though).
VW Golf R32, although not many under 14k, same goes for the newer shape 3.2 A3 (cheapest one of those I saw was 16k).

Also probably not your cup of tea but you can easily get a blob eye Impreza for 14k, either an early STi or a WRX with a few extras (PPP or SL spec).

The only thing I can imagine getting a divorce over is an affair or buying a Suburu, she would probably forgive a BMW but a Scoobie

I'm looking for powerfull, subtle and toys this time around ;)

Must be my age :D

You could get an Audi S4 Avant, but it's probably too big and 'sensible' (looking at your current choices).

Yeah, I think your right it is bit big and likely to be a couple of steps up on the thisty scale rather than just the one step the A3 would be, looks a bit big and family like too, not quite there yet, maybe in a couple of years. If the Audi driveability lives up to the hype and hooks me I could see my self with one of those in 5 years

Fuel claims on parkers are roughly: 30 vs 25, so it's not 'that' bad ;)
Quite a bit faster too, but i'm not sure how well it handles.

I want an S4 Avant, and i'm in my early 20's, so i think you'd be ok :D Just the Grp20 insurance stopping me!

[vomits]

I really really don't like 'em, if I did I'd pull rank as she doesn't drive but at the end of the day its me that would veto it. Anyway I want leather and toys not plastic and cheap seats even if it would mean more power.
