Anybody here got any experiences with the Audi S4. Any owners / ex-owners or people who have been in one etc on here?

I've been over on the RS246 forums and the guys there are great there.

The version i'm talking about is the S4 2.7 Bi-Turbo (B5 model).

Any info on your experiences with these would be welcome.

Went and had a look at one of these a while back, they had one in red at the Audi garage (shame it was out of my price range).

But curiousity got the better and I went for a look, first impression is that the build quality is top notch. It looks nice, even in a non metallic red. Stunning to look at, I believe they've got a fair bit of grunt as well, but never driven one so I couldn't say :(

Would have to agree, especially when I saw Rottys in the sticky at the top of the page, one of the best examples of an M3 :)

Not big BMW fan really. I love the look of the Audi's, and the fact that to the untrained eye (and with debadging) they just look like an ordinary A4 (but with 315bhp under the bonnet after a simple remap)

Yes it's a twin turbo. My favourite colour is the "Nogaro Blue" and if I buy one I will get stage 2 tuning which will be a remap and Miltek exhaust which should produce about 320bhp with about 377ft-lbs torque.

I feel the M3's are way too common now. I mean, they are fantastic cars but you see one every minute or so out on the roads.

Agreed, see loads of M3's, but isn't that a good point. Bad cars rarely sell well (except mk5,mk6 escort, corsa etc)

Nice cars.

Quick, but easy to make quicker.

I like them loads more than M3's mainly due to the turbo's torque and the styling.

Also consider the Audi A6 2.7 Bi-Turbo

Cheaper, and more of a sleeper.

Mate had one of these (now a M3 CSL owner) he had it remapped etc etc... took it the Ring and one of the turbo's blew on his 2nd lap.

However saying that... he loved it. It was very nice inside and out and of course the usual Audi excellent build quality.

Anyone got any performance figures of a remapped one?

I know the CSL is a beast within it self but how would he say they compared? Preferably between a bog standard M3 if he has driven one!

My Brothers still got his Audi A6 with the same engine (2.7TT), and on standard KK03 turbo's is kicking out ~320BHP which makes it highly entertaining!!!

He was going to go for the same turbo's as the S4 (KK04's) and the larger intercooler's, with exhaust and remap that would have been 350-400BHP.. change the injectors etc, and over 400 is easily attainable..

The big thing with these cars are the long service intervals, most owners switch to changing the oil every 6-10K and have a proper service at the specified interval.. most problem cars have been on the long life service and the oil just doesn't last the distance, normally knackering the Turbo's, if you can find one that's been on shorter oil change intervals that's a big plus point.

Other then that they seem pretty bullet proof.. a definite sleeper..

going by my brother's A6, I'd put the 0-60 of a remapped S4 at around 5.0 to 5.5 seconds, and should hit about 170 flat out..

So you're after a nice Imola yellow S4 ;)

Imola or Noggy blue are the best colours, you'll know pretty much what i do about these as you've been over to rs246 :)

Plus, zerok66 S4 is probaby worth £13k max?

Imola Yellow and Nogaro Blue were the orignal two I was looking for, but now I think it's just got to be Nogaro Blue. The colour is fantastic and the Imola whilst nice would probably have problems resale wise.

I wondered what you were on about when you mentioned zerok66, but now I realise. Yes I certainly wouldn't pay what he wants for the car. Then again if it was in blue..........

From what I understand the turbo problem on these can arise if they haven't been taken care of. Most owners seem to be quite careful though and warm the car up etc before using the power, and change the oil every 5000 miles or so.

Anyway if the turbos do go, it's a great excuse to swap them out for some bigger and stronger RS4 turbos.

He never actually drove a standard M3, he really did love the S4 tho, its a great buy imo.

Or maybe some hybrids ;)

Has to be facelift really as well :D , less problems and some nice subtle changes.

My ideal B5 S4 would be a facelift Noggy blue, silver trim (inlay) with silver recaros :D

Yeah the silver recaros are awesome aren't they. Apparantly the leather seats are quite child friendly which is a big relief as i've got a 3 year old!
