Audi warranty denial....

Like the French used to do? :p

Had this years ago in a little 1.1 Saxo (1997 Reg) just after I started driving, thought it was well trick being an 18 year old and having to put a pin in to start the car.

Remember the model name, it was an "Exclusif" - was spelt that way too.

The more I read about keyless entry, the more I think it was the answer to a question that no bugger was asking in the first place...

Disagree massively. Keyless entry and start is amazing.

Yes there are some potential security issues but if a criminal wants your car, they are probably going to get it, whatever you do.

I'd hardly describe it as amazing.

I've got a car that needs a key for entry but is keyless start and one that's fully keyless.
I don't really have a preference either way though for our usage the keyed entry is better.

Keyless for instance locks when you walk away which is rubbish if you're wanting it to stay unlocked.

I remember typing war and peace to Jaguar in a Customer Satisfaction review at how I despised their keyless start. It is the same with the E43. I find it such a pointless feature as you have the keys in your hand to open the thing, and then you basically lose them as soon as you get in the cabin as there isn't a hole to plug them into consistently 100% of the time :p

I remember the Volvo with the same key had the hole where you could pop the key at least.

Keyless entry without keyless start is pointless. It’s only worthwhile when you have both.

Such a nice experience getting into your car and driving off without faffing for your keys. I don’t care if it makes my car easier to steal, I have GAP insurance, I’ll just buy a newer year car if it gets nicked.

And vice versa (as was/is my case).

Except most people have their car keys on a ring with other keys. I don't know of anyone who keeps their car key seperately.
I always have. Ignoring that i rarely take house keys out of the house, i would never have the car key bundled with them anyway. Loose fobs in a key bowl on a table in the hallway for us.

Issues with fob attached to house keys:
1) On cars with physical ignition you would have keys dangling down on your knee
2) You would need to have multiple bundles of house keys to cater for different cars
3) Dependent on 2, you would need to have potentially multiple fobs all on one key ring creating an enormous bundle of keys, ditto for your wife.
4) These scenarios require the spare keys to always be in use rather than stored away.

Sounds like a poll is needed.

Are you a weirdo who carries all your keys together all the time even when you don't need them all or are you sensible and keep them separate, carrying only the keys you need? :p

You do see it sometimes, people carrying a giant ring of keys with also a couple of car fobs attached to it too. Weirdos.

I keep car/house/bike keys separate, mrs bundles the whole lot onto one keyring along with some random massive novelty keyrings. She has no option but to take a handbag when she leaves the house because there's no way her key bundle will fit in her pocket.
