Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

Aaaah. Yes. That would explain it, though all the drivers with KERS should be practising the use of their KERS buttons. I believe they can hit the KERS switch twice/lap.

once per lap for a 6 second boost of roughly 80bhp. Although ive heard it can take a lap or 2 to get back to full charge, so its only a boost every few laps.

Oooo twice a lap should be interesting, im guessing no one else has tried their's yet. Id have a guess that Hekki could be setting up around KERS (or just doesnt want a repeat of his first GP....)

Also i do like Davidson on the commentary, but whos doing the race day??

They can have 400kj released per lap - about 6.7 seconds of 80hp

They can use it all at once, or spread out over the lap.

Can they precharge the battery before the race? Also is the size of the battery mandated or are the manufacturers picking an optimal size?

I thought no, as nobody wants a grid of highly charged cars sitting about waiting to electrocute celebreties, but Davison suggested in his commentary that KERS would give a good boost off the line.... so maybe some heavy breaking on the out lap and warmup lap could fully charge the batteries.

re: Anthony davidson on commentary, i think he will be doing five live so wont appear by default, but i believe you can select fivelive commentary during race using red button

have to say, I'm liking the bbc coverage tonight. I know its early, but I think they're doing well.
