Australian GP 2009 - Race 1/17 (NOT in HD BTW)

I find it disgusting that whatever is at the core of the McLaren issue, its bigger than just Ryan making a judgement mistake, causing him to pretty much have lost his career ... or its actually what LH feels about the matter (quite arrogant no? Ruin anothers career to protect your own).

Too right. Ryan was the fall guy in all this. He took one for the team. The only shame is that he got fired from his job, which I don't think was right. Perhaps he got a massive pay-off...who knows?

... I would never feel comfortable around him if I was a team mate or even an engineer/manager...

If you are a top-line driver, then you have to have to be VERY strong mentally, otherwise Hamilton will tear you apart with his on and off track antics. He is similar to Prost in this way. When Mansell partnered Prost at Ferrari, he couldnt handle it and quit...similar to how Alonso decided that he couldnt handle things at McLaren - a feeling that everybody was against him.

MS would've made an ideal team-mate to Hamilton, as Hamilton would've had to respect MS due to his stratospheric achievements. Also, MS wouldnt break, if Hamilton decided to make an enemy out of MS.

One thing for sure is that Hamilton is totally ruthless in his quest to win as many races and titles as possible.

The wierd thing is that I would never expect this from Ferrari if caught - all close ranks and look after each other and toe the party line, but with McLaren it really does seem each man for himself...

EXACTLY!!!

It really is every man for himself at McLaren. I blame poor management of these types of situations. In 2007 we saw this, where rather than deal with the cheating allegations, it was allowed to leak out to the FIA. Top level management at McLaren dont seem to be able to control the flow of information.

P.S. Am I the only one that thinks the apology from LH was there to avoid further actions from the FIA than to really say 'sorry'?

You are not the only one. Hamilton is ruthless and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. Even if it means destroying other peoples' careers. But thats what I like about him - for the first time, Britain has a driver who is capable of beating his opponents on track and behind the scenes.

I think its only a matter of time that he ends up at Ferrari and has the entire team moulded around him, just like MS had.

Do you have some examples of how bad LH can get? I've only followed him last year, and only from watching the races, which doesn't add up to the veroscity of negative opinion you hold for him..

Up until now, I've quite liked LH, as I do lots of the other drivers, but it does sound like I am missing something about him now, that may change my mind.

And, the other thing I'm noticing is people saying that this affair went much deeper then DR, and he took one for the team, but then people are saying MacLaren are a "everyman for himself' un-united outfit, which kinds of seems inconsistent, or am I mis-reading it?

And we all know how well McLaren get on at "extraordinary" meetings of the WMSC... April 29th could be a very key day for F1...

I bet Lewis is getting stupidly offers from all sorts of teams to leave McLaren. ITs worth noting this is McLaren on trial here, not Hamilton, although yet again it wil be Hamilton who gets tarnished.

We do love going to see the FIA.
