Australian Grand Prix 2013, Melbourne - Race 1/19

If he wasn't held back, or moved back on purpose, he would have beaten Alonso a few times towards the end of last year. The raw results don't tell the story..

I think it's simply down to Massa taking 3/4's of a season to get on top of a car where Alonso can drive around a cars issues.

I imagine this year too by 3/4's distance Massa will start to be nearer Alonso, but who wants a driver who takes so long every year to get going? Massa will have his moments this year too, but the only sensible option is to run effectively one car if they want to get near a Red Bull.

Fantastic close up detail of the Red Bull

So tidy inside, just perfect engineering and why I love F1 :)

No not active suspension as such.
was reading up on this earlier, its fully legal as its not truely active its a passive hydraulic system

http://scarbsf1.com/blog1/2011/10/17/mercedes-innovative-linked-rear-suspension/

So left with the lack of space to place either a mechanical heave element or a antiroll bar, it appears that Mercedes have opted to create a passive hydraulic system. This is not to be confused with any form of active suspension or the cars high pressure hydraulic systems, this system will be entirely self contained to remain within the rules on suspension design. As the system reacts only to suspension loads, it is clearly legal and there is no question of interpretation in its acceptance by the FIA.

Interesting nonetheless

Thats like the F1 version of an up skirt shot

Isn't that hydraulic linked suspension similar to the technology McLaren have in the 12C road car? Have Mercedes linked the front and rear together? Hopefully Scarbs will be all over it!

*sets alarm for 4:30am*

Night guys! See you tomorrow!

Really disappointed with the McLaren performance, but more disappointed with the RBR performance. I'm dreading another 2011...

Merc, Lotus and Ferrari really seem to have caught up to some extent though, so there is some real competition there. Let's hope that two or more of them can rise and challenge Red Bull.

hehe, only just woke up Hamilton is crazy fast, +22 seconds or so :p

Can I go ahead and assume the session started in the dry ;) Was there a reason Hamilton didn't come out though, still fixing car from earlier? Saw something on Sky with him saying he was trying to polish out scratches on the car earlier, lol. So sounds like something was broken on Hamiltons car which caused the crash, did they say why Rosberg stopped, something else broke or a precaution because they didn't know what had broken at first?
