Australian Grand Prix 2013, Melbourne - Race 1/19

good stuff. Thanks god we don't have to see the finger and listen to "yes boys!"

well done kimi

Hamilton Has got to be fairly happy with that. Not a terrible show by Mercedes.

Hmm, decent race, TERRIBLE coverage, Brundle oblivious as usual. DId anyone else notice that Grosjean was all over the back of Button, VErge/perez gaining, then all of a sudden Vergne was ahead of Grosjean, then half a lap later Grosjean was back ahead but both had lost 3 seconds and Perez was between them, then they all gained on Button towards the end. So I assume Grosjean was being held up, Vergne over took him as he tried to get Button and when Grosjean went back past both went off somewhere or did something stupid. They missed lots of little overtakes, lots of cars racing closer to follow around cars on their own doing nothing.

Great for Kimi fantastic drive, Alonso, good drive, Vettel, car didn't seem to handle the tyres as well as either, no where near Kimi's. Merc, I'm not convinced, I think they were a car that couldn't save tyres for a 2 stopper, but tried 2 stopper pace, which completely screwed them. I think they might have been up near Alonso/Vettel had they gone around at 3 stop pace the whole race. Essentially you're going a second a lap slower hoping for 10 more laps, then come in at the same time, had you gone a second a lap faster, you probably come in around the same time anyway, 2 stop pace on 3 stop strategy won't ever work.

Brundle, with Kimi 15 seconds ahead, with ALonso and Kimi still needing a stop saying Alonso is favourite

Red Bull didn't look to have great race pace through testing, last year they struggled on tyres compared to Lotus and Ferrari, but with both those being closer in ultimate pace than last year, the better tyre wear meant significantly better strategy.

Webber, rubbish strategy, Red Bulls still crap off the grid, Hamilton wasn't too bad but got crowded out by the once again fantastic Ferrari's off the grid, Massa and Alonso are like rockets off the grid.

Bit of a shame as I don't think Merc looked as close as I hoped in race pace even if they did get strategy right... but then all tracks suit certain cars, they'll be further ahead at some tracks and further behind at some tracks.
