Australian Grand Prix 2014, Melbourne - Race 1/19

Mixed emotions about the race...

Shame Hamilton retired but that aside, the race from 2nd place back was good to watch. Maybe we will see some interesting fights at the front between Hamilton and Rosberg, will be good to see how that pans out over the next few races.

My only hope is that reliability doesn't ruin any one drivers chances over the course of the season, even Vettel ;)

Nice to see that young kev completely demolished button there, button should just pack up and go home, he's finished.. let the new boys race you old fart..

The more things change, the more they stay the same....

I enjoyed that race a damned sight more than the few that I could bear to sit through last season. Can't really judge the full form from that one round, aside from the Merc being easily the fastest car out there. Got to wonder what might have been for Hamilton, doubtless many will say that he would have easily beaten Rosberg but I'm not that certain. I think it would have been a good fight.

Was hoping for better from Ferrari, guess there's still some gremlins to iron out. Not many in that Williams today though - Bottas was a revelation, his one indiscretion with the wall aside.

The McLaren looked good out there, Button making the best of a middling grid position. Was actually a very decent showing from him - biding his time in the early stages, grabbing a few positions when the safety car came out, and then making the undercut work to get himself ahead of Alonso. Magnussen looked right at home, although it did seem like every time he got near Ricciardo his car started to get out from underneath him. Plenty worse ways to end your debut race than the podium though!

Hope I'm not the only one who was impressed with Kvyat in the Torro Rosso. In finishing 10th, he actually took one of Vettel's records away (youngest F1 points scorer) :D

Oh, and a special word if I may for LOLtus-Geniii-Renault-Whatever. Congratulations on getting as far into the race as you did. You ran a hell of a lot longer than I thought you would. That being said, you're a bunch of abject failures and I hope your team folds soon. Kthxbai.

Yep, the website....just looked, force of habit as I do every morning.

Same, woke up and bbc have slapped a large article on the news frontpage. You would have thought they would've kept it low key with it being so early in the morning. I mean, how hard can it be to have something like "Exciting Austrailian Grand Prix: Results" instead of putting the result right there on the headline...

FIA says @danielricciardo's car "has exceeded consistently the maximum allowed fuel flow of 100kg/h"

Oh boy. What a shame for him, did everything right today and the team screws him. Nice one RBR!

People that complain about seeing the result. Why moan about it?

You visited a news site, and ended up seeing... NEWS

Because of the early-morning start, and the fact the BBC themselves are showing the race this afternoon. It's no extra effort just to have a link entitled 'Australian Grand Prix results' rather than name the winner on the homepage.
We get "If you don't want to know the scores, look away now" on the telly, so why ruin the result for everyone?
They have now changed the homepage, so well done for that!
