Australian Grand Prix 2016, Melbourne - Race 1/21

Glad Alonso ok. That was a very scary crash! Only seen bits on the F1 sites. Will watch the highlights in a bit. I was gutted as i didnt want to know the result, i went onto Channel 4 ready to watch, clicked the link for it in readiness and there was the ruddy result!!! I know better next time there are highlights!

The BBC used to be really bad for that. They would put the result on the F1 page right next to where you click to watch the highlights show.

Will never beat ITV's announcer mess up..right before the highlights.

" and now the highlights of Lewis Hamilton's win at....."

Though I did Pin a tile direct to the BBC iPlayer to avoid their site mostly.

Well that was much more enjoyable than I expected. I still hate the rule that allows for tires to be changed under a red flag, it penalizes the drivers/teams who make a good call far too much.

Really glad to see Alonso walk away from that. The full speed footage was unbelievable.

Being allowed to change them before the restart is equally unfair.

Was a pretty good start to the season, hellish accident for Alonso glad to see he's ok.

Thought the channel 4 coverage was pretty good too, be good to see what their live coverage is like... Ben Edwards is still a terrible commentator though.

They have to allow it due to the potential for it to be because of weather conditions, and because the cars are out of parc ferme.

Do these people also say Torro Rosso cheat by being a Red Bull B team?

No because they don't share the data that is prohibited by the FIA. The accusation is that Ferrari had an information exchange with Haas, which would not be allowed between two existing teams. The loophole has since been closed by the FIA, after Merc asked for clarification.

Would surprise me if they did, they cheered when Vettel spun off near the end.

I think they cheered Vettel off because... Vettel vs Webber and Vettel vs Ricciardo(though there was never really a big rivalry due to performance level and Riccy won anyway). I think they booed Hamilton more than anything because he passed Ricciardo in the race and took points off him, that and people think it's cool to boo the champion.

TR chassis, overall design, front wing, rear wing, now engine, chassis, they are all different to RBR. Haas is nearly a carbon copy of the Ferrari, it's not exact but it is incredibly similar, it's quite blatantly designed by the same people with as few changes as possible.

very different situation and as Setroc said, there is a certain amount of breaking the spirit of the rules in how Ferrari used Haas for development work throughout last year in exchange for basically designing a car for/with them. Ferrari 'fired' like 80 aero guys who immediately got hired by haas, who being a not formally entered into F1 team yet had unlimited wind tunnel/computer simulation testing allowed. Ferrari effectively moved their aero team over to be allowed completely unlimited testing throughout the past year. It's not against the rules but obviously the rules never intended for Ferrari to be allowed unlimited aero testing for a year.
