Austrian Grand Prix 2015, Spielberg - Race 8/19

They breached the rules, they take the penalties. What else do you suggest?

Withdraw from the sport and spend a year testing 5 days a week around the world for a year. Apply for entry the next year. It would probably cost them less ;)

The rules are as usually utterly retarded for a new engine. They should have been all free to do what the hell they liked for 3-5 years and actually promote the use of this engine. Then lock it down.

I'm actually going through a slow divorce with F1. This is the least I have watched F1 since 1993. I'm just struggling to care and I know the fixes will just be knee jerk changes and too many of them as usual, rather than progressive changes.

F1 always struggles a bit though when a car is winning that you know if the driver wasn't there and was swapped for almost any other he would be champion. If Lewis wasn't there, the plodder Rosberg would be champion, if Massa was there he would be champion.

Even in Vettels years, Massa wouldn't have won the title against Alonso and Webber. I work with many Lewis fans, even they are struggling for enthusiasm this year. He's winning every thing but not showing his most exciting and greatest strengths.

McLaren

I just checked the qualifying times and he was a full 0.15s faster than Button (using the old car).

By my reckoning, with all their new updates, McLaren have gone backwards.

McLaren should video tape all the goings on in their factory. This video can be played in years to come to the new management of how NOT to run an F1 team. They need to learn from this diabolical season.

They basically have an engine/drive-train which is about 2-3 years behind their rivals. I'd say that Honda need to go back to the drawing board and return to F1 in about 2 years time in a low-grid team (Manor will be fine). They can test their engine, make it competitive and then sign up with a top team or return as a Works team in 3-5 years. I cant see this engine being capable of winning a race, even in Alonso's hands, for at least 3 years.

I know that there are a lot of politics involved, but is it possible for them to jump ship to Merc engines, mid-season? They could redesign their car to accept Merc engine, and at least have it ready for the final few races of this season, so that next year, they can hit the ground running.

I think that R.Denis has to make a decision quickly, otherwise next year will also be a write-off.

Austrian GP
As for today's qualifying - I think we all knew that the Mercs would be on the front row. I think we also know that in the next race, they will also be on the front row. F1 really has become a predictable borefest and using the number of pages of this F1 thread as a barometer, I'd say many F1 fans have lost interest.

Will I be watching the race tomorrow - probably not. I know a Merc will win - probably Hamilton - and it will be a procession. For the sake of F1, lets hope I am wrong about all this.

Its a short circuit with only seven proper corners, any aerodynamic gain will be small and the mclaren isn't quick in a straight line either. Need to move on from changing engine supplier, it ain't going to happen in a million years...

And if Jenson hadn't left Brawn he'd be 3 times world champion this year.
Except he wanted to challenge the top drivers in equal machinery/circumstances and that's why he left Brawn. So he's up against the drivers champion in equal circumstances. Lets see how he does when the cars finally make it home !
