Austrian Grand Prix 2016, Spielberg - Race 9/21

I know, but being wrong won't stop people banging on about this for years, this is F1.

Remember the forensic analysis if Vettel and flags at Brazil a couple of years back that went on for weeks with people wanting him to be stripped of the title?

Also they'd probably have to punish Verstappen and Raikonnen as well. Since the yellow flags effectively followed Rosberg round the track. Sectors 1 and 2 initially and the Sector 3.

These are supposed to be the best drivers on the planet, the pinnacle of motor racing drivers, yet you have a driver in the best car on the grid who drives like an online public lobby racer, Nico is an absolute disgrace, should be left to hang out to dry by the team as an example of what happens when you dont play fair, its not the first time hes tryed this sort of thing, and if they keep covering for him is sure as hell wont be the last.

Lol Rosberg trying to pull a Hamilton move but damages his own car. I'm probably the only person here hoping they would have taken each other out.

If there's any defence for Rosberg (only because no-one seems to want to try, so I'll have a go ;) ) you could say, yes he took defensive line into the corner (well, he couldn't take the proper line as Lewis was on it) and if his breaks did fail, that's often what he'd do. Watch other times they come in too hot, you often don't try and turn, you try and get more pace off and then come round. Also, if breaks failed, they obviously wouldn't lock up.

That's just me being devils advocate. I actually think that was some terrible driving, Rosberg should have realise he'd lost the position and tucked in behind for second.

**EDIT** Actually, I'm not sure on that turning in thing. You would expect a little wouldn't you.

I tried... go on, someone else have a go at justifying it. I think I failed.

Funny how it's always Rosberg getting the red mist and smashing into Hamilton. I think Rosberg has some real chip on his shoulder, some real problem that Hamilton always manages to beat him head to head, always wins the championship. I think Rosberg really has some psychogical issue with Hamilton that means he loses all self-control when it's Hamilton in his face.

Rosberg is so desperate to prove he's a winner and that he's a proper racer, that he shows himself up and loses all sense when he comes up against the guy that always beats him.

You drive into someone in a Red Bull, your kicked out of the team.
You drive into someone in a Mercedes, the team fall over themselves trying to make up excises for you to save face.

But why are they defending Rosberg so stubbornly when they could blame him and give them reason to replace him with Wehrlein? It doesn't make sense, Rosberg clearly cheated and he is being defended by the team boss.

Wehrlein screwed them by not showing too much till this weekend and making them too scared to put him in next year, this led to Rosberg getting a new contract in the past couple of weeks. AS such it's not a surprise they are defending him so much. This is the kind of thing that will I think make this Rosberg's last contract with Mercedes though and they might pay him to **** off before the end of his contract.

I dont understand the toto bashing. Hes always miffed as you would expect a good team principle to be when both his drivers collide. He was just as annoyed as in Spa when it was Rosberg's fault.

Sounds like bait but Hamilton has never done something like this

He hasn't done this where he has failed to turn into a corner. Rosberg was so far away from the apex.

He has however, straightened the steering wheel early and run the other person off the track. But that is significantly safer and people do that all the time, Rosberg included.

Your assumingbit was a mistake. Between what Toto said and on board. It looks very much like a calculated move.

Toto said his break where dead, so would have lost the lead anyway. He tried perserving his championship lead.

No, I was just having a go at justifying it... have edited this in.

If Rosberg didn't have any brakes, he shouldn't be trying to our brake Lewis into that corner.

Remember he messed up the corner before which gave the chance. He was trying to recover from that mistake.

So I don't think we could definitely say that Rosberg was resigned to second before that mistake.

He was shown the onboard right there and then where it is clear Rosberg didn't even try and turn in, and all he says 'it was brake failure'. His driver intentionally tried to take his own teammate out and break both cars in the process. He should be furious with Rosberg but all he is doing is making excuses for him.
