Austrian Grand Prix 2016, Spielberg - Race 9/21

Rosberg won't be penalised is my guess. It will be a reprimand.

He shouldn't be either IMO. He just outbraked himself. Hamilton turning in is why they collided (not blaming Hamilton, just saying that Rosberg didn't outright cause the collision).

It was just a racing incident for me. Rosberg lost out to the tune of 3 places and Hamilton won. Just move on.

No attempt to make the corner, blocking the re-entry of Hamilton on the track (looked deliberate), driving with damage, seems pretty slam dunk. Surprised still no news about a penalty. Just purely dangerous.

I've got crap before for saying it, but penalties when it's two drivers from the same team is rare. F1 is political, stewards don't often give out penalties unless everyone is screaming at them to, if it's one team mate on another then in general the team goes quiet, plays down the incident and penalties are often avoided or reduced significantly. Same incidents when it's drivers from different teams involved, one side will push for a penalty and certainly not downplay it. Even then you have which team is involved. Sauber hits a Manor... no one cares, Manor hits a Ferrari, Ferrari go ape and they are a big enough team stewards give out a huge penalty. Ferrari hit a Manor, Ferrari are a big enough team that stewards give out the smallest penalty possible if any.

Had Rosberg not been with Merc and had all these incidents he would have gotten big penalties for Monaco, Spa, here and maybe a couple others, corners cut and some other little things.

That's how I see it too. But Hamilton fans will not stop until there's blood (figuratively speaking)

Hamilton's stops were in total 3.3s slower than Rosbergs.

That's pretty terrible.

That's just more defence for Hamilton when he's in the team meeting. "I wouldn't even be fighting with Nico if you hadn't screwed up the pitstops, and I still managed to win the race, so don't come crying to me when Nico deliberately crashes into me because he can't beat me on the track".

Except nothing about the corner looked like he was out of control, usually a big braking problem and brakes not being there when you want them means going straight off the track. He wasn't excessively fast, he wasn't massively locked up, he was in control and put himself as wide as possible. Brakes are an excuse and a bad one because he was visibly in control of what he was doing with absolutely no signs he went in too fast or locked up and couldn't slow down.

Bahrain with Kimi behind, when his brakes weren't there when he wanted them he went 30m past the corner, as almost everyone has done when brake by wire has failed. If you brake too late and are too fast, 99/100 times you'll see all four wheels locked up trying to slow for a corner.

Where was Hamilton meant to go exactly? Into the barriers to get out of rosbergs way? Rosberg didn't even turn in, so the outbraking himself statement is nonsense. And what about Rosberg not letting him back on, I guess we should just let that go too? And if his brakes were finished, why did he carry on?

I don't agree that Hamilton should be ****ed and drive straight on. Otherwise every driver when defending a place will start doing the same. It's a bad precedent to set. Your car shouldn't be used to block.

He lost ground through turn 1, decided he could 'make a mistake' due to the brake problem and have Hamilton "turn into him, making the contact." Really, he should have just accepted once he was almost completely past him into turn 2 that he won't be able to save the win, settle for second and more points than whatever else might happen at this stage.

Hamilton making a good point about brakes again, you have brake temps on the wheel, if they are out of window you have to manage them. They get cold, brake harder, they got hot, you life and coast. Here and Canada Rosberg has broken his brakes by refusing to manage them. If the brakes failed(not convinced) and he had a braking issue(never looked at all out of control) it's entirely up to him to manage it, failure is still poor driving by Rosberg.

Rosberg needs taking out the back of the garage and given a good kicking. What a arrogant **** he is. How he can blame Hamilton for that is beyond ridiculous. I haven't seen anything that says that he's got a new contract so far. It's certainly not been on either of the F1 news sites that I check everyday. They should get rid of him and give the seat to Wehrlein who did a cracking job today.

What happend to Perez at the end, another suspension failure?

I don't think he intended contact, but he definitely intended to push Hamilton off the track, and thereby keep the place. He just wasn't expecting Hamilton to stand his ground.
