I really think it would be worth Hamilton sticking his elbows out and being more aggressive now he’s not in a title fight.

Turn 1 Gasly thinks he can barge past him (I suspect he would have if Hamilton has space to move into). Turn 3 Perez gets the job done knowing Hamilton will slam on the brakes to avoid him.

I even think Mick knew to defend aggressively against him because he attempt anything too risky.

I think Merc are still going to need a failure/accident on the Bulls or Ferraris to get higher than 5th and 6th today.

5th and 6th should be easy for them though.

Apparently it’s the worst in the Max Verstappen grandstand. Lol. Absolutely not surprised. Blokes holding stupid flares that say “hooligan” on them.

FIA have made a statement now.

Wouldn't they be breaking parc ferme if they did this.
Toto Wolff confirms that George Russell is using a previous spec rear wing after damaging the updated one in his crash yesterday.

Mercedes later confirmed that they had swapped Hamilton to the team's spare chassis, while fitting different gearboxes to both cars from within their permitted pool – with they also carried out repairs and swaps to floors and wings.

Both didn't look upto pace in the sprint best I think is 5th-6th on pure pace unless things go for them

Verstappen is probably the biggest star in the Netherlands and thus has attracted a lot of the partisan dutch football crowd who attend his races. It's basically an element of football culture (some say hooliganism) coming into F1 that the sport hasn't previously seen, it's no blemish on Max or the Dutch. It's just a symptom of him being massively loved in a country full of partisan football fans.

Football fans + Alcohol = trainwreck

If Hamiltons fanbase had a strong overlap with the die hard English football fans you might well see similar at Silverstone... maybe this does happen at Silverstone and elsewhere ? I remember some complaints about Hungarian GP a couple years back as well.

Honestly I think liberty media have to reign it in a bit. They won't but they went hard on changing f1s image, a lot for the better but now would be a great time to step back and for them to think about what works well and what is starting to attract a bad vibe to the sport.

There are certainly more family type visitors to GP's these days, and they really need to make sure it is a family friendly atmosphere if they want avoid making the sport look like another football disaster.

Fans can make a sport better and for the most part do, but it only take a tiny percentage of them to ruin the entire image of it as well, lets hope the FIA and Liberty crack down on this rubbish.

Really well written post and I completely agree.

No blemish on the Dutch of course but how much do we hear complaints about footballers being terrible role models. Unfortunately Max plain is a terrible role model and if he thinks he can start a fight in the cool-down room for example, then it’s no surprise his “fans” are keen on similarly loutish behaviour.
